Horrible all rooms smell like rotten fish!

Our stay this time around was horrible. The room smell like rotten fish. They put new curtains in all their rooms and the curtain smelled so bad. We arrived at 12am and wanted to rest our head in a comfortable room after a long drive. The front desk person did not handle the situation properly after I checked in. I informed her the room smelled like rotten fish and she was well aware of it. I requested for a new room and she had me wait while she helped the gentleman that arrived after me. We roamed around to look for a new room while my restless son was waiting in the car with my husband. The next morning my husband requested for another room that had a fainted smell. So basically we plead to be room twice because we couldn't stand the smell. They were well aware of the smell and could have rectified it by washing the curtain, rather than just renting all the rooms out. I requested for some credit, but they were unable to provide some credit/refund since I booked through a third party (hotel.com). Could you provide some credit for this booking?

Nice and clean, Attractive grounds

The room was clean and comfortable. Service, particularly the front desk, was very good. The landscaping around the patio and pool has a great variety of plants, palms and flowers. It is beautiful and well maintained. The breakfast set-up is attractive and well arranged, and there is a wide variety. The food itself is a mix. The eggs are powdered and the bacon is synthetic. Other items, such as bagels, yogurt and pancakes are good.

Wrong room number

Check in was not so good. Front desk gave me keys and wrote the room number on the sleeve. I drove around, parked, unloaded my luggage and went to the room number written in the sleeve. The key did not work in the door and I recognized that room was not facing the pool as booked. I had to walk around and check my key in every door until I got access to my room.

I have stayed at this Best Western many times and I am surprised and disappointed at my experience this time. The door to my room would not latch unless I slammed it with great force, the fan in the bathroom was not working, there was an overpowering, cloyingly sweet and unpleasant scent of room air freshener that about knocked me over when I stepped into the room, so strong that the clothes I hung up now smell like that. The AC unit leaked water and the carpet in front of it was saturated. The fridge made a loud rattling sound when the motor turned on. While the bed was comfy, linens were nice and there were lots of pillows, between the smell and the fridge, it was not a good night's sleep. Staff was pleasant and took my complaints about the door, the fan, and the soaked carpet seriously, complimentary breakfast was adequate and the dining area is large and patio/pool area are very pretty. But BW needs to address maintenance in this hotel.
