The cottage was adequate for my husband and I for the few days we were in town. It was clean and the kitchen stocked with cooking and eating utensils. The town of St.Charles is quaint and beautiful. As far as the house I would suggest putting in a handrail coming in the back door up to the kitchen. The stairs are narrow and steep. A little difficult to navigate for a 65 and 70 year old. The bed was very low to the ground and was hard to get out of it. Also, the king bed in the downstairs bedroom left very little room on either side of the bed.

It is an older home with great character & comfortable except beds & A/C unit was not working well during stay. I was sweating overnight and had to go out and buy a fan as couldn't sleep. It was incredibly hot outside during our stay. I notified Owner and she said previously had a/c unit checked twice and told it was working. It was working but it wasn't working well. Some of my group pulled off sheets on downstairs bed before realizing we didn't need to gather up sheets before leaving. The mattress cover was disgusting. Saw cobwebs in several places but that was not a problem for us. Outdoor space in back very quaint and relaxing.

Cute house on the corner

Nice drive in, easy directions. Very private parking area with private patio, surrounded by beautiful hanging down plans/ flowers. No nosy neighbors.Firm bed, good water pressure in the bathtub.Didn’t use upper bedroom as I travel for work alone and there was tornado warning but lower bedroom equally great.Of work will get me into the area, will be back.

Aunts Birthday

The listing does not show pictures of the paint peeling off the walls in multiply rooms. The house needs deep cleaned. Dust on all the TV tables was awful. There were no handrails in the bathroom to help balance getting in and out of the shower/tub. Someone else's leftovers in the fridge. All the partial bottles of shampoo and body wash left in the shower is tacky. the first-floor bed needs a new mattress. Cute house but needs a lot of work. It could be a great little house with some TLC. there was a good-sized hole in the closet if you had little ones playing hide and seek could cause an injury. The front door had a good-sized crack that rain actually came in. Upstairs TV never would connect. Needs handrails on all stairs on both sides for better balance.

Would not recommend

Had some cute features, but the lodging needed some TLC. Damage to drywall needed to be repaired and the whole house needed some Spring cleaning (dingy/dirty baseboards/doors, caked on dust on return vents). We appreciated the owner's attempt to keep with period of the house (when it was built), cleanliness should take priority.

Clean and close to freeway

This was a good spot for my husband and son to crash for a soccer tournament. Clean and close to the freeway. Communication with Caryn was great!
