Room had very nice amenities- loved the heated toilet seat, rain shower and water in the refrigerator. Bed sheets were a bit scratchy but the comforter was amazing!
What a beautiful room in a beautiful hotel! It sits above several restaurants on the private third floor. The building is like a cross between a Victorian and the New Orleans French quarter. As old as the building must be, it is fully modernized with every amenity while maintaining its classic charm. The bathroom is amazing. There’s an oversized shower with an overhead rainfall shower head AND a detachable shower head with massager on the wall. And a separate soaking bathtub. Don’t even get me started on the toilet with the multi setting bidet and heated seat!
Those of us who know what the HSC used to look like (“transient hotel” albeit charming in a sort of way) will be utterly shocked with the transformation into the “bougie” place it had become… no expense was spared … love this place even more than I used to
The room was absolutely beautiful! Not like most hotels, where they are very "plain Jane". The toilet was pretty cool ..nice warm seat and a lot of features I didn't try, 😅. Staff was very kind and courteous. Carried our bags to our room. Explained how everything worked as far as the codes for the doors. Located downtown was pretty cool. Just an all around beautiful place to Stacey that didn't cost a fortune. Thank you for making or stay amazing!

This is one of those limited staff hotels. The kind where there is no one at the front desk. You can call or text someone. But the lobby is empty. There is no one to help with luggage. There is no elevator. I walked my own luggage up 3 flights. At checkin there was someone who showed us to the room. I suppose I could have asked her to grab my luggage but at that point it seemed easier to deal with it myself. After that I never saw them again.
There is no parking. It's even difficult to stop outside to unload as you would block the street. You need to park at a garage 2 blocks away and pay an extra 20$ a day. They will not validate. It does say that in the Expedia description but it's buried.
The biggest issue with limited staff is there is an after hours door separate from the main door. I was told after 11:00 to use that door. However, one night the main door closed early and I was literally locked in the building at 10:00 p.m. walking around a dark lobby. Looking for the after hours door to get outside.
When I posted a mid review for checking on Expedia someone from the staff reached out via text and asked what they could do to help. I explained how I was locked in when they closed the door early and that I was disappointed about parking and lack of an elevator. They never responded....
The room was fine. Clean but small. The location was great. Walking distance from the Penn State campus. But I seem to be running into these do-it-yourself hotels more and more.
