A step back in time. The hotel was warm and welcoming. Lovely walks near by. We didn’t use any of the facilities like the swimming pool.

It’s a quirky hotel. You love it or you don’t. We happened to love it. It’s need some updating, but without loosing any of its character. Excellent location. Dogs allowed. Good traditional breakfast, nothing fancy, but enough. Dinner options more sophisticated. Game room, cinema room, bar, outstanding views… Great stay for anytime of the year. Lots of regular customers. I give one star less because of some musty smell of the room and not fully functional bathroom sink. However this wouldn’t stop us from coming back happily again!

Nice enough

Great location, with easy access to a lovely sandy beach. Good family facilities - outdoor pool, indoor plunge pool, tennis courts, pitch and put, games room, etc. Nice breakfast. An evening meal was ok; nothing more. The hotel is just a bit tired in general and needs a bit of TLC.

Don’t ever change the Knoll House Hotel !

We loved being at Knoll House Hotel… it was like stepping back in time … such an interesting history and it was warmly welcoming. We loved the spa and outside pool and being near the sea for swimming . The staff were really helpful and friendly and the room was comfortable and clean. We had a room right at the back of the property which was very peaceful. I’ve heard that developers are knocking at the door but please don’t change anything about this Hotel. We love it just the way it is. Keep it for everyone.

Traditional and quirky. Could do with updating and furnishings could do with renewing and a lick of paint all over inside and out. It would be a great shame to change the feel of the hotel. It’s in a beautiful area which would be spoilt if the look of the outside was radically modernised.

Great location and value, but hotel very tired

Its the kind of place you would have expected to see The Trotters visit in Only Fools and Horses. You could see Delboy and Rodney propping up the ship cabin bar. The hotel opened in 1931 and dedicates a lot of wall space to Enid Blyton and Noddy. So be prepared for some very retro decoration. All of which adds to the hotel's character. Over hearing other guests say it's listed, this explains a lot about the lack of upkeep and real maintenance. All staff were friendly ans helpful. Dinner was ok, we much preferred our meal at The Pig down the road. Breakfast was great, with plenty of choice. Room was good value. But bed, chairs and furniture and door, all tired. You could see a good amount of light at both the top and botyom if the door. Whilst the hotel complex was prettu quiet, the walls were thin and we were awoken each morning around 6am by other guests dogs, which seemed to set off each other in a barking chorus rather than a bird one. The amount of dogs was actually the most off putting thing about the hotel. Even one of us as a dog lover found it too much. Good facilities with the games room, cinena room and library where there are lots of books and board games. We poked our head in the spa building but again it looked very dated and tired qnd we opted out. The best part about the hotel is its location so close to the beach. But beware whilst the naturist beach didnt worry us, the fact that the area seemed to be used for some unsavoury and non family activities did.

Knoll House is in a unique and stunning location, close to the SW coast path, with views over the sea to the IoW. The hotel itself has an air of faded glory, but our room (a garden suite) was clean and comfortable, with a recently refurbished bathroom, quality toiletries and bedding. Our only issue related to the power points - the only usable one was behind a cupboard with an extension block for the kettle etc. , nothing near the bed. The TV was connected to the only other socket... an ancient round-pin one! The breakfast buffet, served in the dining room with wonderful sea views, catered for a wide choice, and the evening meal selections were very tasty and nicely presented. The hotel staff (reception, dining room and housekeeping ) were particularly helpful, and made us feel very welcome. We are already planning a return visit.

Likes: friendly staff, great value dinner Dislikes: very cramped room; dated furniture; shower temperature kept changing; poor quality hospitality tray; horrible outlook over a large flat roof and carpark beyond; room and bedding too hot (couldn’t open windows because of kitchen smells); dogs in hotel were noisy in the morning; limited choice at breakfast (no fruit salad or grapefruit)

Really nice place to stay with extensive grounds all well looked after. Great staff. Played golf and used the indoor pool, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. Also liked the games room - table tennis and pool table both top quality. Would certainly return and recommend. 👍

They know house is a lovely old quirky hotel with a lot of history. We love coming down with our dog. The beach is just across the road. There is a lot of wildlife around and a lot of the area is owned by the National Trust. It is lovely and clean and just a delight to keep going back to And the food is also good.
