Ehhh...ok but under renovation

Stayed in a newly renovated room, it was unfinished. There was a couch in the hall in front of my room which was awkward. The staff were very friendly and kind. When the renovations are complete- it would be decent place to stay.

Unsafe environment, l people cutting boards and using saws as I walked past down the hallway to my room. The room was unfinished had no night stands and wires sticking out of the wall, tape all over framing on the wall and foot prints. The lady at the front desk was very rude and didn’t want to give me my damage deposit back.

The motel is undergoing renovations and the other motels in the area as well. For a family traveling use to staying at Holiday Inns, this was unpleasant. We wanted to explore Smithers but accommodations within the town are bleak.

Grubby

Tired building with worn out fixtures and fittings. Dirty valance, stained carpets, no AC, not even basic amenities in room. No fridge, no TV remote, blocked sink, painted cinder block walls (no drywall). The most basic of breakfasts - very disappointing. Wish I’d spent the extra $30 and gone elsewhere.

They are doing renovations, so there is a bit of a mess in parts of the hotel. Our room was clean and beds very comfortable. The breakfast wasn’t great, not a lot of choices and no drinks but coffee.

I would have rated 4 stars because of getting a great rate, great coffee, great parking, and acceptable level of shabbiness relative to price. However, an extra charge appeared on my visa statement from Capri and I was unable to have it resolved through the hotel. The first day that I reported the unexplained charge via telephone, no response. Second day, I spoke to the manager, emailed him as instructed, confirmed my phone number, and he said he would respond within hours. No response in 24 hours. I then reported/disputed the charge with my credit card company and it was promptly reversed. I still haven't heard from Capri for an explanation. I would recommend always getting a printed receipt on checkout and if unexplained charges appear, just report them to your credit card company.

The bed was comfortable. Their outdoor signage did state guests should be excited at coming renos. We were not advised of renos beforehand or at check-in. Earliest check-in was 3.00pm so by 6 pm one would expect room to be ready. Instead apology; room will be ready in 5 mins. Weird and no explanation. After one-half hour we decided to start unloading bags to 2nd floor room we'd paid for and received lockcard. To our astonishment an old toilet was in the hallway outside our room, a new toilet in the room entrance with 3 men working on installation!!!!. We also pointed out the wires hanging with no smoke detector attached. I felt like I was at Central station. The room was ours 2 hrs after we'd checked in. I swear I've never experienced anything like this. We just about missed ordering supper by 9 pm. We should have been told our room was a work zone and without a doubt been offered a new room. To add to this there was a new sink faucet with no hot water!!! The outside window frames had been painted along with the glass which had not been scrapped off and the windows inside were filthy. It may not be a $300 room hotel but no one should be charged over $100 for this very poor standard. On the 2nd morning a road construction crew started their trucks at about 6 am. One of the reno contractors stated they had suggested closing down a section at a time to contain disruption to patrons. Breakfast was a joke. Thank goodness we had our own cereal.

They were still building rooms. They were hammering on the walls while I was trying to rest. I didn’t have a TV to watch. People were noisy in the hallway at late hours.

Would not advise anyone to stay here

Our ‘first’ room door didn’t close .. we waited with maintenance to fix and they couldn’t so we moved to another room where toilet didn’t work ..maintenance tried to fix but couldn’t also there were open wires from the aircon machine by window sticking out.. we got out of there as fast as we could with a full refund (the most positive part of this booking) . We realized the hotel was under renovation on the first floor so only rooms available were on the second floor . There were a huge number of younger people on the floor we were on ready to party as they were hired tree planters from all over and many staying together in single rooms a few of them were vaping and were very obvious about it as well . Like they were the only ones in the hotel including big cases of beer brought up to them as well they ordered . As we have a service dog that was another problem as I had requested a dog friendly room was told they were gone but they did find one after I told them about my request . As it was a long weekend , it was difficult to find alternate accommodation, but we did and the next hotel were most helpful and welcomed our dog .. were far more accommodating we had to pay alot more but well worth it .

Overall cleanliness was sub par. Staff was friendly. No key available for room as machine broken. Be annoying if you wanted to come and go. It sufficed for a quick one night stay.

I would say you get what you pay for but I had a similar price range in another city and had a world of difference. It is deep in renovations, my bed did not have sheets, it was noisy and shabby and didn’t feel safe. I never like to leave bad reviews but I will not be back.

When I arrived, and asked to check-in, I was told I couldn't check-in until 3PM, it was 2:05 or so. The clerk said I could check-in if I paid an additional fee. When I said I'd just come back, he said never mind, I have a room. I actually liked the size of the room, the layout and spaciousness were good, and it had a microwave. The shower had controls to handle volume and temp separately. However, there were no face towels, and the fridge wasn't cold (which seems to be a common problem). The sheets were also scratchy, I wondered how well they washed them. The worst thing was the WiFi. It started off slow, but then would fade in and out. After dinner, I wanted to write a review as the food was great, but couldn't do it as the WiFi just faded out. (Telly's Grill is great!) It just wasn't a great experience here.
