The hotel looked very newly redone andOur room was very clean, new looking and comfortable - very comfortable bed. It had a mini-fridge, microwave and a coffee maker. Great TV, air conditioning. Loved the flooring throughout the hotel. Very attractive lobby. Restaurant and bar attached. And we were very impressed with the staff! Ingrid on the front desk was wonderful and cheerful with everyone. Manager and other staff were very helpful and happy to help. We like the area close to the gorge

At approximately 1am on the night of my stay, a small dog in the adjacent room barked non-stop for about 20 minutes. I called the front desk three times. They did try to help, and apparently called the guest (who was not in her room at the time and had left the dog unattended). The guest told them she 'paid for the room and didn't care about the dog barking'. Was not happy about this, obviously.

The property amenities were great, especially for folks with kids. Love that they have a "popcorn happy hour". There is a restaurant and pub onsite which is convenient. Areas of opportunity would be to dim the lighting that is throughout the lobby area, it is beyond bright (and I don't have sensitivities). The front desk person was very nice when we arrived, however (not her fault) it took a long time to check in as she was the only person there for desk duties, she was juggling people's questions, checking in 3 different groups of arrivals and answering the phone. We had arrived later in the evening and were already exhausted, having to stand there to wait for that long to check in was a bit frustrating, and franking doesn't seem fair to that employee. I had booked the hotel as it said it was relatively close to the hospital (Royal Jubilee) It was not that close and was min $20 cab ride each time I travelled to the hospital. I also saw a lot of people saying the booked as it said breakfast was included (which it was not) which understandably left some guests feeling frustrated.

Not clean and carpet smells in hallways. Baseboards clearly show dirt sitting for too long, hangout area is okay but dog hairs all over. Too many homeless at night in parking and liquor / bar attracts more drunks. If you use underground parking it smells like dead fish and urine.

The room and service were good—overall decent for a 3-star hotel. However, I was extremely disappointed with the cleanliness. The room, particularly the bathroom, was quite dirty. There was visible mold on a piece of wall art, which was concerning. While the common areas had a cool and unique vibe, they also lacked proper cleaning and didn’t feel sanitary. The most unpleasant part was the strong smell of marijuana throughout my room and the hallway. I was traveling with my 3.5-year-old child, and the conditions made me uncomfortable enough that I didn’t even want him to use the shower. With better attention to cleanliness and air quality, this could have been a decent stay.

The Vic is a beautifully renovated gem. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will stay here again the next time we visit Victoria. The service was friendly, welcoming, and excellent. We were able to get access to our room early after our flight into Victoria, which made our day much easier. The room was the same quality as chain hotels and we enjoyed all of the same amenities. The temperature of the room was easy to control and it was very quiet on the property, so we slept well during our stay. There is plenty to see and do within walking distance of the Vic, as well as a delicious onsite restaurant. The cab ride to downtown is very affordable. Thank you for everything and hope to be back soon!
