Discover the ultimate luxury at Golden Sands Retreat, a stunning beachfront property that has been meticulously rebuilt with impeccable attention to detail. Nestled along the pristine shores of Wagait Beach, NT, this oasis is just a 1.5-hour drive from Darwin city or take the SeaLink Ferry from Cullen Bay for a quick 15-minute cruise to Mandorah Jetty (contact us to arrange transport to and from the Jetty).

This exquisite beach house features 4 air-conditioned bedrooms. The expansive master bedroom boasts a king-size bed, ensuite bathroom, and beautiful sea views. Two queen bedrooms offer comfort, while the 4th bedroom features 2 double/single bunk beds. Additionally, the upstairs loungeroom provides 2 double sofa beds. Enjoy 2 living rooms, outdoor dining spaces, and a games room. With 2.5 bathrooms and 2 kitchens, your comfort is paramount. Linen, bath towels, tea, and coffee are provided. Enjoy complimentary Wi-Fi during your stay (available exclusively at the holiday house). The living areas offer a tropical and breezy ambiance, louvered windows and bifold doors, enabling the flow of refreshing sea breezes.

Our property offers an array of options for your stay. For guests over 12, or those looking for separate bookings, we have 4 self-contained units. These air-conditioned units feature a queen and single bed, ensuite bathrooms, compact kitchenettes, and a shared outdoor kitchen space.

Minimum 2-night stay for the holiday house. Overnight stays in the units are welcome.

As a guest of the holiday house, you'll have exclusive use of the refreshing plunge pool, perfect for cooling off and relaxation. The outdoor amenities also include a hooded BBQ, firepit, and a ping pong table. The games room has an eight-ball pool table, a classic arcade machine featuring 60 old-school games. Both living rooms feature large smart TVs and DVD players for versatile entertainment including streaming and DVD watching.

Walking on the beach and witnessing breathtaking sunrises and sunsets can be a truly serene and captivating experience. The play of colours across the sky, the sound of the waves, and the peaceful atmosphere creates a sense of tranquility and beauty.

If you're a fishing enthusiast and equipped with a boat, the nearby Mandorah Jetty offers a convenient boat ramp, opening doors to aquatic escapades. Alternatively, test your skills by casting off from the beach or rock bars, merely 50m from your backyard. With an array of catches such as Barramundi, Snapper, Black Jewfish, Tuna, Threadfin Salmon, and Mangrove Jack, your fishing horizons are wide. Mud crabs are in abundance in the NT waters. Join the excitement of the million-dollar fish challenge, as a $10,000 Barramundi was reeled in just off the Golden Sands beachfront a mere couple of seasons ago. Your angling adventure awaits.

The spacious open living areas of the house seamlessly blend indoor and outdoor spaces, allowing you to soak in the beauty of the sea, the beach, the trees, and the vibrant birdlife surrounding you.

While we welcome well-behaved dogs, kindly note that they are not permitted inside the house. The property is fully fenced for your convenience.

Sorry, no parties allowed, or no more people onsite than agreed on the rental booking/agreement. Special functions can be allowed pending management approval.

The Cox Country Club Bar and Restaurant is open for dinner Thu-Sun & lunch Sat-Sun. Meet friendly locals over a cold beverage and enjoy great Aussie pub meals. Enjoy the music (regular live bands also) over a free game of darts or eight ball pool, whilst your kids play on the playground. Free transport from Golden Sands to and from the club is available.

Wagait Beach Supermarket is a licensed supermarket and fuel outlet. The supermarket is open 7 days a week (closed on Christmas Day) and offers a wide range of groceries, Bottlemart, fuel, bait, ice, fishing tackle, gas, takeaway food, ferry tickets and more.

The house and surroundings are beautiful. The beds are super comfy and the kitchen is equipt with everything you need and more. Private pool and loads of entertainment to keep us busy even if it was raining. A 10/10 from us, we'll definitely love to stay again.

Plenty of space, plenty of fun

Our group had such a wonderful time at Golden Sands! The place has so much space for all of us and our needs. The beautiful kitchen, big dining areas and multiple areas to congregate meant we never felt like we were on top of each other. We also appreciated the sleeping arrangements however the room that slept 6 was a little tricky for our singles and couples to share. Luckily with the fold out beds in the loungeroom, the extra space was appreciated. I would definitely book again for a big event - and would most likely take advantage of the extra accomodation on site (seperate to the house). Places like this are rare in the Top End and I'm really glad the venue exists - I'm already looking forward to the next time we visit!

Relaxed and Recharged

I was told by my sister about an amazing getaway location close to Darwin called the Golden Sands Retreat and it did not disappoint! We booked the accomodation for a crew of good friends for the sole purpose of relaxing, recharging, unwinding and disconnecting from work. The accomodation was fantastic for this. We walked on the beach, had BBQ's, went swimming in the pool and watched TV to relax. I would highly recommend this place for a family getaway or if you wanted to grab a group of friends to enjoy the stunning location together. We have already started talking about when we should book it again!

We had the most amazing stay celebrating my Dads 70th who had travelled from the UK with his sister, and my sister & niece from NZ. The property is amazing, extremely well equipped with everything you could possibly think of from kitchen utensils, to board games. Amazing views of the ocean and great fishing spot just outside. Two nights to end our stay in Darwin.

After staying in central Darwin for a week the house at Golden Sands was a beautiful way to end our holiday in a stunning location. Lots of games for the kids ... who lost at round robin Olympics against the patents and sadly realised that Dad was a sweat on the old school video games. Darwin has lovely sunsets for sure but the sunrise on the Golden Sands balcony was something else.

Girls getaway

Beautiful Property - Memorable Stay

We recently stayed at Golden Sands as a group of friends and two young children. There was nothing we could fault, the property was beautiful and presented clean and tidy. There is enough space for everyone yet ample room to have some space to yourself. The access to the beach is simply a few steps away and we just enjoyed sitting on the balcony, out on the grass or in the pool. There was nothing more we could want for. A highlight of the stay was heading down the beach and watching the hermit crabs.

Perfect weekend getaway with other families

We love this place on so many levels. There aren't many places that you can easily fit 3 families with young kids that are new, tasteful and well designed and this ticks the box. It's huge, and everything you could possibly want is there. The kids loved the huge downstairs area, the pool table and the retro sit down video game (pac man etc). There was a good selection of DVDs for them. There is even a kitchen downstairs. The pool is small but lovely- the kids had a ball and it did the trick. They loved the bubbles you could put on and the night light at night. The balcony upstairs is amazing and a highlight. We found ourselves relaxing there for for most of out time. You can see the harbour and the breezes were nice. Its shady for most of the day and has 2 beautiful trees in front of it. The place is beautifully renovated and the kitchen upstairs has everything you could possibly want and more. There are lots of places to hang out and so you never feel crammed in by others. Nothing like it I think within a few hours of Darwin. The kids loved getting the ferry over from Cullen Bay which is super quick and others drove with the gear from Darwin. Highly rated by everyone. Great for families and for a group of friends.
