Excellent location in downtown Cedar Falls. Historic hotel full of charm. Bar Winslow has Steph, an amazing mixologist and front desk staff helpful and accomodating. $10 coupon for Bar Winslow presented at check in. Close to many restaurants and other attractions. Nice touch in the morning with pastries from Bambinos Bakery. Will stay at The Black Hawk every chance we get.

There is no available parking. Had to drive around for 20+ minutes to get off Main Street parking due to zero on site parking. Extremely frustrating situation. Had to carry luggage for multiple blocks.

I wish I had more time to stay here and explore the area—the front desk staff was so friendly and welcoming. There isn’t onsite parking, but I only had to walk a block to free parking. The hotel does provide a space in the back for unloading and checking in, which was convenient. I even walked to my car late at night and felt completely safe. The rooms are huge and spotless, and the shower pressure was amazing—just what I needed after a long drive. My only complaint was the pillows, which I didn’t find very comfortable. If you’re picky, it doesn’t hurt to bring your own.

The Black Hawk is a historic hotel and decorated with antiques and old luggage in the hallways with local art mixed in. There’s also a small cocktail lounge on the first floor which had some great craft cocktails. Ambiance wise the hotel is nice. It’s also in a great location on Main St to walk to shops and dining. The room and bathroom were comfortable. But the hotel lacks some basic amenities especially for a business traveler. There was no parking so you have to find street parking or a nearby business that will allow overnight parking Note that overnight parking in front of the hotel isn’t allowed and the side streets within a block only allow 3hr parking. Breakfast isn’t served until 8am so I never got to try it and there’s no in-room coffee maker so you need to find your own coffee shop if you have an early start. Most hotels I’ve stayed in offer water and coffee in the lobby 24/7 and quite a few have some convenience area to buy snacks and beverages. I could see a grab and go snack area and even gift shop items doing well for both hotel and bar guests. My room came with a wet bar and mini fridge but no microwave. The armoire only had one hanger so you couldn’t hang your clothes. There’s no “do not disturb” or “clean room” sign. I don’t know if they only clean the room when asked, no policy was mentioned when I checked in but during a 3 day stay, no housekeeping visited. The hotel has charm and if they add a few basic amenities it could be a real gem.

ALL OF THE STAFF at the Black Hawk are BEYOND Kind & Welcoming. We loved staying here 3 nights as we provided support to our fam on Ragbrai. We switched rooms and both were terrific. Spacious and clean with a lot of eclectic antiques throughout the hotel. Bartender at Cocktail lounge makes some great drinks and is also SUPER NICE. Great location with lots of restaurant options / bars.
