For the price of the room, it was shocking. There was a stain on my sheet. The rug in the room was filthy and crusty. The bath didn't drain. The furniture in the room was in horrible condition. People who worked there were nice, but it was such bad shape. Should have been $50 - NOT $200. It was shocking.

Great stay in an awesome location

We chose the Jefferson Street Inn to be close to the Wausau Whitewater Park not knowing we'd be a short walk to amazing food and drink and some cool shops. The Inn itself is quite nice with friendly staff, immaculately clean room, and wonderful linens on a comfie bed. The AC is up to the task and the room was blessedly dark and quiet for sleeping.

Bad Beds

As a former international airline pilot, I have stayed in countless hotels, and in many different parts of the world. And, I have stayed at the Jefferson Street Inn multiple times over the past 10 years, primarily for the convience of access to activities in downtown Wausau. I appreicate the free and easy access parking and the always cheerful and friendly staff. However, the facility is not keeping up with the needs of the business traveler. Short of water and some sodas available from behind the desk, there are no vending machines nor afterhours snack area. But the real deal killer for me is the bed. Because I love the hotel's location, I keep telling myself that during my last visit I got a room with a bad bed. Indeed, in anticipation of potential trouble, this time I brought a foam pad just in case the same issue emerged - a bed that made the floor seem soft. But after several visits over a period of about four years, I know for a fact I haven't just been getting the exception. The beds in this hotel are the hardest on the planet. To make matters worse, the comforter is heavy and thick to the point where you could sleep with the window open in -30 and you would still be hot. Simply does not work during the hot, muggy days of summer in Wisconsin - I don't care how much you crank down the air conditioning!

Good place to stay!

Stay was mostly amazing! Super conveniently located in downtown Wausau and very close to amazing restaurants and stores. The only problem we had was the air/fan unit in our room kept making horrible noises once it would turn off - waking us up several times in the middle of the night. Everything else was great!

We were very pleased with our stay. The room was well appointed and better than advertised as it looked like it had been recently renovated. Parking was included and very easy to find a spot in the lot or across the street. There are multiple dining options within the same block of the hotel. I would gladly recommend the Jefferson to friends and would stay there again if we come back to Wausau.

Restaurant at hotel, Char, was amazing. Great food and great service. Bed comfort was not great. We had a hard bed and hard pillows. It was uncomfortable and we unfortunately didn’t get the best of sleep. Hotel front desk service was okay. They unfortunately did not communicate with us that we would need to buy parking for Monday even though we’re checking out that day. We unfortunately received a ticket due to the lack of communication. When we first checked in we did ask if we needed to buy parking tickets and they had informed us that we did not have too. Location of the hotel was great. It was close to everything we wanted to be around. Other than that, the stay was good.

The Jefferson Street Inn is in an excellent downtown location and the staff is very friendly and helpful. It is within easy walking distance of many restaurants and bars, as well as the Grand Theater.
