A comfortable base in central Welly

This was my second stay at Naumi Studio. It was a comfortable base to stay at in central Wellington. I particularly enjoyed working and relaxing in the bar area given the small lounge. As this stay was in winter, the lack of air con in the small room was no issue tho I wouldn’t come back in summer.

Everything about this was excellent and I would stay here again, the check in process however needs work it appears a trainee was on duty without adequate oversight it would have been helpful if the person had been wearing a Trainee badge for client understanding

The location of this hotel is really good, but in saying that it is also on one of the busiest streets in all Wellington and is super noisy at night; though I'm not quite sure, there's much more that the hotel could do to reduce noise coming from the drunk people walking down Cuba Street at night time. So I would definitely recommend bringing ear plugs, especially if you go soon as they have construction going right outside the hotel which went on into the early hours of the morning. Outside of it being visually aesthetic and very Instagram worthy. It is just the run-of-the-mill hotel. it said that Netflix was included but there was no login so you had to have your own Netflix account. There is also a pool and a fitness facilities available, however you have to go down to reception to get a key to get access to these places which made it quite annoying comment and I'm not sure why they just couldn't have given you access to that with your hotel key anyway. Some perks of it is that it had some really good blackout blinds, so I think if you just remember to bring ear plugs you have a decent sleep. Location is close to everything, and you can enter and exit the hotel on both sides. They also have luggage storage which is helpful.

The staff was super friendly. I didn’t require cleaning service and I kept the sign on the door for three days so they would know that I didn’t need the service. Each day the same cleaning staff would ask if I needed anything like extra towels or soap etc. As a solo traveler it felt good to know that someone cared enough to check with me. For some strange reason it made me feel safe traveling solo. So from the reception staff to the wonderful lady who was assigned to my room, because of them I give this hotel a 10 on a scale of 1-10. I loved the colorful lobby, hallways and rooms. The hotel is centrally located on Cuba Street but once in the hotel you don’t hear a sound from the street. Great stay!

We were planning to stay elsewhere, but we had bought our friends a stay here last year and they recommended it. However, it seems a lot can change in nine months! You cannot get hold of the front desk, we spent about two hours over two days on hold to be told to try again, just trying to ask if we could check in twenty minutes early. The room was small, dingy, and full of scuff marks, and the windows don’t open, so you only have a fan to cool down. Everything was just very used, the wardrobe was rickety and was pulling away from the wall. The stools were so worn, as was the fabric bed head. The bathroom was actually okay, albeit small and had some nice touches, but you don’t spend a majority of the time in the bathroom when in a hotel so it didn’t count for that much. If you’re looking for a stay that is purely for convenience, then yes I would recommend, otherwise I would spend the extra and stay somewhere where the attention to detail is high priority, as well as comfort of stay. The checkin experience was strange, it’s a combo of computerised and staffed… checkout was easy, but you’re told that it takes up to five days to get your $200 bond back which is kind of unnerving.

Hotel has a nice vibe and good location. There were a couple of issues. Booked so I could use EV charging but the parking was all used. “Twin”beds are standard (not king) singles and too short for a 6’1” person.
