Great location and fantastic hosts!
Vincent and Sonia were fantastic hosts and the flat in Altea was a wonderful location. Overall we had an amazing stay and great experience with the hosts. Based on our stay we would note a few pros and cons as detailed below.
CONS:
1. Although the apartment description says the accommodation has been renovated, the actual apartment does not appear so. We had anticipated a newer flat (pictures 14-18 is what we expected). But in reality the flat was the pictures that were dated 2014.
2. The flat says there is a parking spot, however, the hosts ask that you do not use it as it will block the neighbors’ car. This was not an issue if you only rent a scooter. In addition, street parking is limited around the direct vicinity of the property.
3. We requested internet (at an additional expense), however, the internet throughout our 4 week stay was not stable and kept cutting in and out. It was not sufficient for 2 people to work abroad. The host contacted the WiFi company immediately but unfortunately, this did not really help the situation. I’m not sure there’s much more the hosts can do regarding this issue.
4. The kitchen appliances could use an update as the microwave is quite old and when we tried to make popcorn, the microwave started smoking, which if we were not paying attention could’ve been a fire hazard. Also I would note the kettle does not automatically click off when finish, so you must pay attention to manually turn it off. (A blender would be a great addition to the flat)
PROS:
1. Hosts are fantastic and respond almost immediately to any queries.
2. Location was ideal and just as advertised. Old town is right at your door step with many amazing food options and the beach is within 10 minute walk (steep incline/decline).
3. Flat is spacious with fantastic views and air con throughout except there is no air con in the second bedroom (only a plug in fan).
4. Bed is very comfortable, plenty of towels provided, and walk in rain shower was a nice treat after a hot day on the beach.
Overall we had a great stay and would recommend Vincent and Sonia as hosts again! Many thanks for your hospitality.
