Casa do Monte on kauniisti kunnostettu 1700-luvun portugalilainen kartano, jota ympäröivät laajat laaksot ja upeat mäet. Sijaitsee Teixeirón kylässä lähellä Mesão Frioa, satamaviinin reitin Lower Corgo -alueen sydämessä, ja se on ihanteellisella paikalla tutkimaan Douron laaksoa ja vuosisatoja vanhaa viininvalmistusperintöä.

Kiinteistö on perheomistuksessa ja palvelee yksinomaan suuria perheitä tai kaveriporukoita, jotka haluavat viettää lomaa yhdessä mahdollisuuden päästä toisinaan pois kaikista. Vieraiden mielestä on yhtä helppoa pitää hauskaa yhdessä kuin rentoutua yksin!

Talossa on yhdeksän makuuhuonetta (5 omalla kylpyhuoneella, 4 jakamisessa 2 kylpyhuonetta) ja hienot vastaanottohuoneet, ja siinä on keskuslämmitys kaikkialla. Lisävuodetta ja vauvansänkyä on myös saatavana.

Lapset ja energisemmät aikuiset voivat nauttia hauskoista hetkistä talon vieressä olevalla hoidetulla nurmikolla sijaitsevassa ulkouima-altaassa. Ulkona voit myös nauttia puutarhapeleistä, kuten krokettia tai Jengaa. Tai voit kävellä puutarhan ympärillä ja arvostaa paikallista kasvistoa tai istua vain terassilla tai uima-altaan äärellä nauttien näkymistä lasillisella viiniä. Jos sinusta tuntuu olevan kiivetä kiinni, mene pidemmälle hedelmätarhoihin ja valitse päivältä omat kausiluonteiset hedelmänsä.

Mieluummin sisätiloissa? Pelaa kortteja, tikanheittoa tai pöytäjalkapalloa pelihuoneessamme tai kuuntele viereisessä huoneessa olevaa biljardia pelaamiseksi. Siellä on jopa projektihuone, jossa on elokuvateatteripaikat (ja kyllä, voit tuoda oman popcornisi!) katsoa elokuvaa! Tai vie vain ansaitun tauon istuen yhdessä klassisesti sisustetuista, mutta erittäin mukavista olohuoneistamme.

Aamiainen sisältyy hintaan, joten odotan herkullista vastaleivottua leipää, tuoksuvaa kahvia ja monia muita herkkuja! Lounas terassilla, josta on näkymä uima-altaalle, on yleensä erittäin houkutteleva. Mutta kun illallisen aika on tullut, voit nauttia ruokailusta ylellisesti varustetussa ruokasalissamme syömällä Portugalin hienoja ruokia. Tai jos haluat mieluummin vähemmän muodollisen ruokailun, istu ulkona “ollessasi vielä sisätiloissa” sisäpihalla. Omistajat käyttävät kiinteistöä usein perhejuhliin tai juhliin, joten se on täysin varustettu käsittelemään suuria ryhmiä - sinun ei tarvitse huolehtia astian loppumisesta! Casa do Monte, Marcus, Rosa and staff truly gave us the best 4 days of our lives. When planning our wedding we were looking for a place in the Douro Valley that could serve as our wedding venue for 35 people AND a place to stay for all 13 of our friends. After reading reviews of the property and how helpful the host was - we decided to book. It turned out to be the absolute best decision.From the start Marcus was communicative and invaluably helpful in planning our day. He was able to help us book our dinner, flowers, transportation, source our wine and beer, and organized a brilliant team of staff to make it all happen. More than that, he put us at total ease. That is truly priceless. Everything, and we mean EVERYTHING was even better than we could have imagined. The house itself is magical - a true gem in such a charming part of the Douro Valley. It is much bigger than it seems online and you can hang here for days without ever leaving property because there is so much to do. Our group really enjoyed the pool and cooking in the very well appointed kitchen. The breakfast every morning was perfect and the house felt so spacious that even with 15 of us you would have to make an effort to run into everyone! One of our absolute favorite parts about our stay was how the home really felt like home. Marcus went above and beyond to make us feel like the place was ours and to invite all of our friends to enjoy it as well. From the bottom of our hearts - muito obrigado!!!!

Marcus’ place is incredible! It was much bigger than we expected and worked perfectly for our group (two families with teenage kids 14- 18 plus my 80 year old mother). The pool was great (particularly given the heat!) and we made good use of the gym and cinema room (the property also has its own chapel!) Having Rosa, the housekeeper, join us every morning to set out breakfast was fantastic and meant that we had one less meal to organise. Deserves its 5* rating!

Awesome Experience

Our week at Casa do Monte far exceeded our expectations and will be a beautiful memory for our entire family. The ladies that took care of the breakfast and cleaning were wonderful and communication with Marcus was very easy. The breakfasts were delicious. The swimming pool and the outdoor area around it were perfect and we had a weeklong family party. Ricardo and Paula are a couple that operate a restaurant in Teixeira, a short drive from Casa do Monte. They provided a delicious dinner meal for us three nights while we were at the villa. We enjoyed their food so much that on the night that the whole family went out for dinner we went to their restaurant. We could not have picked a better place to stay in all of Portugal. Thank you so much Marcus and all of your staff for making our stay so memorable.

Magical Property in Douro Valley

One word: perfection! Fourteen friends gathered for what was an amazing week of exploring, fun, wine and food. This property surpassed all expectations. The space, amenities, gardens, rooms - everything - was excellent. From the day we booked, our host Marcus made himself available. He made himself part of our group and was incredibly thoughtful and helpful. Rosa (who ran our breakfast program) was also amazingly kind. Breakfast around the pool was only the first highlight of every day. This was the first time this group of friends (known as the Best Wine Club Ever) travelled together and it was simply the best place we could have imagined. Thank you Marcus and Rosa. A very special week.

Porto-Douro Vacation

The villa is truly amazing. It is very well kept, very clean, and very well equipped. Jessica, our caretaker was wonderful. She was prompt and flexible and kept the kitchen very clean. Marcus, the owner, was very responsive anytime we asked for something or needed a change of plans during our stay. It was a wonderful experience. The only suggestion we have is a bit of variation in the breakfast menu.

Wedding in the Valley

This place deserves awards for how special it is! My husband and I booked Casa Do Monte for our wedding venue in 2024. We booked it about 9 months in advance and during that time, the owner, Marcus, met with us to discuss logistics and make sure everything related to our wedding was as perfect as possible. His help was never advertised or expected but he is an incredible person who helped make our wedding into the perfect day. We had about 22 guests stay in the house over a 4 day period. Breakfast was always laid out in a beautiful spread every morning by the homemaker, Rosa, who greets you every morning with a bom dia and the warmest smile. Casa Do Monte is also situated in the perfect hopping off spot in the Douro Valley for wine tours. Our wedding party rented 2 15-person shuttle buses that transported us from the house to 2 spectacular wineries within the region. We can’t express enough the gratitude we have for this place and the people associated with it. This is truly a hidden gem in the Douro Valley and it’s hard to imagine there are many other listings out there that can compete with this one.

Tranquil Casa do Monte Douro is a perfect home base from which to explore Portugal’s wine region

We were a large group of 14 friends and stayed at the Casa do Monte Douro for eleven days in June. The villa is not only gorgeous, combining old world character with 21st century comfort, but it was the perfect location from which to explore the Douro Valley and the northern cities, towns and villages of Portugal. Nestled among acres and acres of terraced vineyards, none of us will soon forget the spectacular views, the villa grounds -- a gardener’s delight – as well as the wide array of living spaces and amenities, our favorites among which were the hot tub, the gym, the games room, and the swimming pool. We started each day with a delicious breakfast prepared by the wonderful Rosa, the villa’s caretaker/housekeeper. Her support and assistance made our stay all the better. Villa owner Marcus is a gracious, responsive, informative, and welcoming host. His suggestions and assistance with arranging experiences such as a local chef to prepare dinner one evening, a curated list of wineries to visit, and advice and assistance in booking other local adventures, made our stay all the more memorable. For most of us, this was our first trip to Portugal, and we could not have asked for a better introduction to this amazing country and in particular, its wine region. As seasoned villa-experience travelers, we highly recommend Casa do Monte Douro. Date: June 2024

The perfect escape

We have stayed at numerous VRBO properties in a variety of countries and without exception, this was the most extraordinary experience to date. The communication with Marcus, the property owner, was exceptional and there was never a moment where he did not respond in a timely and wonderfully detailed fashion. Casa do Monte is an exquisite Villa loaded with charm, thoughtful detail, and welcoming comfort. We literally do not have enough adjectives to accurately describe how much we all enjoyed this entire, memorable experience. Wonderful, unique, enormous property

Our experience at Marcus’s house was perfect. The house is beautiful - a mix of old and new that has so much character. The pictures don’t do it justice, it is decorated tastefully in a classic manner but the important things are v new. The bathrooms are extremely clean and modern from a fixtures perspective. The water pressure and temp is wonderful. Also almost every bedroom has en suite bathrooms in addition to the common bathrooms so it feels almost like a hotel in that sense. The kitchen is large and equipped w everything if you want to make large group dinners as we did. The breakfast provided was simple but diverse enough to make everyone happy (incl 4 kids!) and v plentiful. There are so many common areas/rooms that I couldn’t find the gym the first morning even though I had been shown it the day before! The outdoor area and pool were also great (incl an outdoor bathroom), I only wish it had been warmer weather when we were visiting. Rosa the caretaker and Marcus the owner were both v responsive and prompt anytime we had questions about the house or area. The location was very convenient, definitely on the Porto side of Douro valley so depends what towns you want to visit, but we were able to have 4 days of nice day trips all in under 1hr drive each way (Lamego, Six Senses, DOC restaurant, Amarante, Régua). Our group of 2 large families and 4 adult friends had a wonderful stay here and would wholeheartedly recommend it for adults and families alike.

Superb stay

Our stay at Casa do Monte was perfect from start to finish. Marcus was extremely responsive in the planning stages, helping us plan our trip with activities, transport and catering. His recommendations were all absolutely spot on and ensured we had an excellent experience in the Douro Valley. The house itself is beautiful, very large and spacious, extremely well-equipped, and exceptionally clean. If anything, the photos don't do it justice! We really can't recommend staying here enough.

A grand experience on the Douro

What a wonderful property! The experience of communicating with the owner was actually one of the enjoyable aspects of the stay. Marcus was a source of great advice and was always available to converse with. His suggestions turned what would have been a nice stay into an overall magnificent experience. We were a party of 14 old friends who have travelled extensively, all of us were impressed with the casa. The building is spacious, the facilities of a high standard and the surrounding delightful. Special mention must be made of Rosa, the housekeeper, who prepared a great breakfast every morning for us and despite a bit of a language barrier ( our Portuguese was dreadful ! :) ) she managed to look after us like family. We do not have a contrary thing to say about Casa Do Monte, it was more than we expected. Unique property

The property was stunning. We were an extended family getting together for the first time since the pandemic. The property had so many facilities to suit everyone. The cinema room was popular especially for the women’s World Cup. The gym and jacuzzi were also well used. The pool was great. And as there was a heatwave the week we were there the Air Con was much appreciated. The kitchen was well equipped to cook for a crowd. The breakfast was lovely. A holiday we will never forget. Thank you Marcus and Rosa, especially for organising the birthday cake. Nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommended.

Stunning

The perfect house for large groups. It is very spacious. Rosa looked after us with a delicious breakfast every morning. Marcus was always available by Whatsapp for any queries/information on excursions and always responded immediately. The weather was very hot so we chose to stay at the property and enjoy the amenities it provided (great A/C too). Lovely mountain scenery. Thank you Marcus and Rosa for an unforgettable week!

Memorable vacation

We enjoyed everything about this amazing property. Marcus was extremely approachable and very helpful leading up to our visit, and helped arrange a few excursions in the Douro Valley and also a splendid meal at the villa for our group of 10 guests. Rosa the housekeeper was a treasure and made our stay all the more pleasant. The villa was perfect for our group of friends, there is so much space for private time and also lots of opportunities to share time at the pool and common living areas. All in all a very memorable vacation and we hope to return one day to this beautiful region and villa.

The perfect group holiday location!

Cannot recommend this place enough. The photos don’t do the property justice - it has everything you need for a group holiday, in an idyllic location. The hosts were attentive and helpful throughout the booking process and were contactable for any issues during our stay. Marcus went the extra mile to help us organise transport & a Portuguese BBQ which helped make our stay perfect. Would definitely recommend to any considering a stay!

We had an amazing stay at Casa Do Monte. The house was extremely clean and well-managed. We thought that it was even nicer in person than the pictures could show. Marcus was beyond helpful in organizing events for us, and even put up with us when we decided to move some things around last minute. The breakfast every morning was nice to look forward to, and the dinners that Marcus arranged for us at the house were fantastic. Highly recommend staying here if you have the chance.

Magnificent Villa

A large group of family and friends (19) stayed at Casa do Monte in August 22 for a week and had the most wonderful time. The villa was exceptional in every way. The weather was extremely hot and the air conditioned rooms and pool were perfect. The host, Marcus, was extremely helpful and very responsive. He arranged a catered meal one evening that was incredible - even the kids got involved being shown by the chef the best way to cook a steak! The housekeeper Rosa was so helpful, preparing breakfast for us every morning. The villa had everything we could want and I cannot think of anything that could have been there that wasn't. We would absolutely recommend this property to anyone and we all hope to be back some day in the future.

Outstanding stay

The villa itself is great and much bigger than we were expecting. It was extremely flexible and suited out multigenerational group perfectly. The kids loved the cinema room and the pool table, especially. Communication with the team was simple from booking all the way through to the end of our stay, with any queries or questions dealt with extremely promptly. They gave some great recommendations for restaurants and vineyards to visit. They were always on hand to help which was great. The breakfast was really appreciated by everyone.

Fabulous property with attentive staff

We were a group of 18, six couples and three children between the ages of two and a half and seven months old. The property owner and staff were wonderful, they answered all our questions before the trip, helped arrange activities and meals, and were communicative throughout the stay. The property is huge, very spacious and even as a large group we never felt on top of one another. Air-conditioning throughout the property is a huge plus. The playroom offered lots for the children and the provision of travel cots meant we could pack lighter. We will not hesitate to return, thank you for a lovely trip.

Our perfect wedding

My husband and I booked this properties during our engagement to host a small and intimate DIY wedding celebration. Since then, we have had the absolute pleasure of getting to know the host Marcus, who became our de facto wedding planner. He carefully and thoughtfully helped us to select flowers and a chef; he organized a wedding-day yoga class; lead a wine tasting of classic Douro wines for 29 attendees; liaised with vendors such as our photographer, helping us to order food for the days outside of the wedding; and, most importantly, made all of our guests feel at home. To say that he went above and beyond would be an understatement. Casa do Monte's staff are kind and excellent at their jobs, far exceeding our expectations. Each day we awoke to a clean house and lovely breakfast. The care that has been taken to maintain the property and gardens is really exceptional and greatly contributed to our stay. Marcus' attention to detail is reflected in everything that he does--our wedding truly came together seamlessly thanks to his contributions in the several months leading up to our stay, and throughout the three days that we were there. Our guests were bursting with compliments about Casa do Monte, and especially the exceptional host that was Marcus. I very much encourage you to stay at Casa do Monte--if your experience is even half as good as ours (though we know it will be exceptional) then you are in for a dream. Thank you to the whole team at Casa do Monte for making our stay one that we will never forget.

Spectacular villa in the beautiful Douro Valley

The property and setting are beautiful. There are many opportunities for hiking starting right from the gate. The staff is friendly and attentive. Highly recommended!
