Unhappy - Wrong Room

I drove 10 hours and collected my key from the safe because I arrived after closing time. My son helped me to the room with my belongings, but the touch card wouldn’t open the door despite multiple attempts. When we knocked, the door was opened by another couple who were already staying in the room I had been booked into. I was tired and upset after a long drive. This was a very stressful and unacceptable experience — I expect better organisation and a prompt resolution.

If you want peace and quiet this is NOT the place. The locals ( indigenous) are everywhere, if not staying there then they hang around the halls, the pool, out the front. They arent quiet and constant chatter ( the halls echo ). Also make sure your room has a bathroom majority of them don't therefore you have yo use the public ones in the hallway ( shared ). Mine room was directly across from the mens.. which they keep the door open so seeing someone showering or using the bathroom is highly likely. The womens just down further constant use of hair dryer can hear all night. The windows have no flyscreen. Therefore completely open. Wouldn't advise keeping open at night. The bed was not a queen it was just 2 king singles joined, very uncomfortable. Found 2 cockroachs in my room too. The only good thing was the staff, helpful accomidating gave some good advice about the area. Overall wouldn't recommend if you want quiet. If you don't mind being uncomfortable the locals and shared bathroom with no privacy.

Disappointing, lacked previous ambience

We have stayed at Queens Court several times before and enjoyed the breakfast, pool, bar and outside bbq and eating area, staff efficiency and friendliness. As I was traveling to Cairns solo I thought it would be a reasonably priced option with nice ambience and smiling faces. I was disappointed… no free breakfast, no bar or outside gatherings, and the staff, though still efficient, not so happy and smiling. New ownership has meant higher prices and impacted on many small aspects and I will not be rushing back. I only stayed 3 nights then went to Port Douglas for 8 nights where I could get a great Studio apartment with a balcony looking over one of 2 pools and a kitchenette for a similar price! I won’t be hurrying back there or recommending it as I often have in the past. Disappointing.

Arrival: We arrived around Noon and were advised that Check In was 2.00. However if we wanted an early check in the cost was an extra $60!!! The gentleman at Reception must have had a bad day as his attitude was not one that you would expect at a hotel arrival. Not rude but not at all welcoming. We left our bags and came back around 3.30 to check in. The next gentleman was much more receptive. The standard room on the 1st floor was one of the smallest I have encountered. $175 for one night!!! Would we return? I doubt it.

The staff were good property is adequate room way to small for the fee charged. On check in the staff member was helpful however prior to arrival I received a text saying “We are excited to welcome you to K2 Cairns Queens Court! As part of your arrival process, please complete your pre-check-in at the following link: The pre-check-in is a MANDATORY step prior to your arrival Not an easy process when you are driving the Bruce Hwy at 100kph so I got the passenger to read it out and do it for me, but No they require a signature, so forget that! Eventually we go to the motel only to be told it’s not mandatory. To the management thanks for the extra stress. On check out the staff members I dealt with were excellent. Do I see myself going back, Probably not!

This is my second time staying here, and I’d gladly stay here again. The place is nice for the price, has good amenities, and is within easy walking distance of the seashore, restaurants, and shops. There was an unknown issue that caused my key to be deactivated, and when I returned to the hotel at around 10 PM I found myself locked out. The emergency phone outside of hotel reception allowed me to contact someone after hours, and I was able to get into my room within about ten minutes. While I dislike the keycard error, the staff handled it promptly and courteously. Issues can happen, and I really appreciate it when the staff are able to promptly and graciously address any problems.
