The best thing about Sun palace is the wait staff and bartenders, They were fantastic! The resort was clean. Food was ok. The bad part is the front desk agents are super pushy and use super pushy sales tactics to try and get you to go and try other resorts and book things. We got there and was sat down and hammered on going to a 90 minute thing. They even went so far as to call our room to remind about that, rather then checking on our stay. One lady said we had to bring each of our IDs and credit cards. It was overbearing and because of that we won’t go back. It’s sad, because we had such a great time with the waitstaff and how friendly and informative they were.

We enjoyed our 4th trip to Sun palace. Our anniversary dinner on the beach was very romantic. The food was fantastic as always, however we were not to fond of the changes to the Fuego menu. Bring back the bacon wrapped chicken, please...... We visited Trattoria twice for the chicken masala and impeccable service. Sun palace feels like home to us and we cannot wait to see everyone again next year!

Food excellent, restaurants very professional and absolutely an amazing experience how staff treated us, very unique. We had King size bed, very nice, the rooms were perfectly kept up thru our stay, and we were spoiled. Sun Palace is the best we had ever been to. Will go again for sure.
Huge turtles come out at night and lay eggs in sand, they weigh between 400 and 600 pounds.

The only thing I didn’t like was the waves were so big we couldn’t get in the ocean until the last day. That’s a big deal if I can’t swim thats a deal breaker.

We did a quick 3 night weekender. Checked in friday mid-day and went to Fuego first night. Wife woke up with projectile vomiting and it lasted 20 hours. Doctor came (at our expense) and determined the obvious. Food poisoning. Even after front desk summoned the Dr. no one checked on us, offered any help, nothing. We just had to wait around in our room for our ground transportation to show up, which never did. So we had to hire a taxi. However the sales pitch people called our room over and over. We have been on many trips but I wouldn't go back to this place for free. Pick another place, there are many nice ones.

Probably the best service I have ever had at a at an all inclusive resort. Jonathan for the entertainment was exceptional!! Juan at breakfast was extremely accommodating!! Alexander at the Tai restaurant was one of the best waiters I have ever had!! Will return for another visit before the end of the year.

Awful Experience – Avoid if Booking Through Expedia We absolutely hated our stay and will never return. If you book through Expedia, prepare to be treated like a second-class guest. The staff was rude, unhelpful, and only spoke to us when pushing their timeshare pitch. Anytime we asked for help, they told us to “contact Expedia.” Only one restaurant was open during the day, and it was terrible—bad food, almost no variety. The Italian restaurant(only dinner) was the only decent option, but you’re only allowed to reserve it once. After that, you're stuck with room service, which was sadly the best food we had. We had reliable transportation arranged (as we’ve done on dozens of Mexico trips), but the resort refused to assist us and told us to leave the area—just because we didn’t book directly with them. Don’t expect a beach: it's rocky, steep, and completely unusable. The two pools are small, and there’s zero entertainment or atmosphere. It was boring and disappointing from start to finish. Most guests had different wristbands, while ours had the Expedia logo—clearly marking us as low-priority. We understand tiered pricing, but this level of exclusion and poor service was unacceptable. After visiting Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Cozumel, Tulum, and Isla Mujeres over the years, this was by far the worst resort we’ve experienced. We’ve already warned friends and family—don’t waste your money here.

Had a terrible experience towards the end of my stay. We had booked the saloon appointment, but my wife got sick so I called one hour before the appointment time to cancel. The manager on duty insisted that I will still be charged for no show since we did not cancel 24hrs in advance. I explained that I could not foresee sickness 24 hrs. in advance, but he still refused to accept. He told me that the only solution not to be charged is to see a doctor and get a doctor's not. We contacted our doctor in the USA who advised that the best action was to fly back home and get medical attention there since we could have missed our flight if we decided to see a local doctor. After spending thousands of dollars to stay at this high end resort, a very insensitive manager can spoil your entire experience for a no show charge of $50. Dealing with this in addition to a sick wife is a bad experience that I had to share!

I cannot say enough about this resort. My wife and I just spent a week here and we did NOT want to leave. Everyone from the wait staff, bartenders and entertainers was phenomenal top notch service. Shout out to Johnathon and his crew for making our pool days and evenings exciting and welcoming. You guys are amazing and deserve a raise! Miguel and his crew at The Bar were so attentive and had our drink orders memorized by the second day. It was our anniversary and my wife’s birthday and cleaning service brought up champagne and cute cards saying happy birthday and happy anniversary. They even brought balloons into the room on her birthday. The room service always kept the mini fridge stocked with beers, water, and soda and the room was always tidy when we returned from the pool in the evening. Room service was always prompt. No longer than 30minutes. Even when we were placing wild drunk orders at 2am. The waiters were also very aware and cautious with my wife’s food allergies. I cannot say enough good about the wait staff. They even had nesting sea turtles every night on the beach around midnight. We would bring our drinks out on the beach and watch the turtles burrow and lay their eggs. Overall wonderful experience and cannot wait to return in the near future.
