Wouldn’t stay again

I was traveling solo with my two sons. It was just…really rundown. The first room they put us in was the on the first floor. When we walked in, we could smell a mildew and possible smoke smellwith a busted window that wouldn’t lock. I immediately went to the front desk and made it pretty clear that wasn’t gonna work for us. They then gave us a room on the second floor, and it was almost like a different hotel. The whole hotel is in kind of general disrepair, but the Staff werepretty friendly. Part of the ceiling fell off in the breakfast space the first morning we were there. It’s also in the middle of nowhere a lot of abandoned retail space and outside of any attractions to speak of. It makes me sad to write a review of this poor, but honestly had I read something like this, I definitely wouldn’t have booked it.

I really appreciated the hospitality of the staff. I had several challenges including a dusty air conditioner and mold in my room (on the curtains and in the tub) that made me sick after a few days. One of the front desk staff cleaned the air conditioner herself for me! Breakfast was good with waffle maker and a variety of food items that changed most days. I had a real problem getting trash bags for my trash cans! It got very annoying and I wish housekeeping would replace the bag when they empty the trash. Flies were also a very annoying problem - I had two in my room for at least 3 days and they were aggressive. They were at the front desk too! Buzzing around the staff. Overall, this was an okay hotel stay, not one I would repeat (I’ll stay in Grand Rapids next year instead). But it was better than the hotel I used for the last two years and the staff were really helpful and pleasant. I definitely recommend the hotel checking curtains and bathroom surfaces for mold and replacing those fixtures as needed.

Property needs overhauled and updated. Persons at front desk were very nice and professional. Building and rooms were ‘meh’ and ‘tired’. I guess it was clean enough but when it looks run down it makes it look dirty.

Comfortable and clean. There was a leak from the bathroom above us but we were given a new room when that happened directly across the hall. The room seemed musty from dampness.
