近くに共同売店はありますが、しっかりと自炊したいのであれば、車で40分くらいのところに大きめのスーパーマーケットが複数あります。宿泊施設はとてもきれいで、広いガーデンもあるので、一週間の滞在中に何度も備え付けのBBQセットやテーブルを使わせて頂き、家族4人で満喫しました。家の中は段差が多いので、脚の不自由な方にとっては歩きづらいかもしれません。20代前半と10代後半の息子達は、ロフトの寝室を楽しんでいました。歩いて数分の明石ビーチは、ほとんど遊泳客はいないので、毎日のようにプライベートビーチのようにシュノーケリングで活用。ウミガメにも４回遭遇しました。自炊に疲れた時には、徒歩3分くらいのところにある有名な（？）明石食堂も利用しました。19時半以降の夕飯時は混雑していませんでしたが、ランチの時間帯（11:00〜14:00）はかなりの行列で、1時間待ちとかになりますが、お店の入口で名前と人数を書き込んだら、クーラーの効いた家に戻り、15分おきに家族メンバーが交代で順番をチェックしに行きました（歩いて3分、走って1分なので、このメリットは大きいです）。宿泊施設は小さな集落にあり、とても静かなので、リゾートホテルとは異なった現地体験をされたい方にお勧めです。少しだけ違和感があったのは、風呂場はシャワーだけで風呂桶がありません。ただ、石垣島ではシャワーだけ、という家も少なくないらしいので、これも現地体験と思って過ごしました。石垣島に行った際には、また利用したい宿泊施設です。
