Cockroaches and low cleanign standard
Unfortunately this was the worst accomodation and worst service in our Japan trip. We got the ground floor room 101 and it had multiple cockroaches and small crawling / jumping insects (luckily not bed bugs). Judging from the bad smell coming out of the bathroom, the cockroaches must have come out of the drainage holes (they didn't have mesh covers). When we notified the hotel, first they didn't believe us and asked for photos of the cockroaches. When we sent them the photos, they simply replied "sorry for the inconvenience". I asked for a solution and recommended for an electric anti insect/cockroach (with a link from a Japan store) which would benefit future guests as well, they simply said they don't have it.
Our family stayed 4 nights and when we asked for replacement towels, they said it'd be 300 yen each. We were provided secondhand slippers which were clearly dirty.
We love Japan but this property ruined the image for us, we know it's not a good representation of Japan.
On the good side, the room size is reasonable and the walk isn't too far from shops etc.
Didn't get any emails from Expedia regarding how to check in - we arrived at the hotel and found out that there is no staff at the actual hotel. Had to take another taxi to yet another place ( with all our luggage! ) to get the access codes to enter the hotel - it's quite a waste of time!
Other than that - once you're checked in, it's actually a nice property. Bit of a walk to the nearest train station / bus stop, but still bearable. There's a really nice public bath ( Sauna Ume Yu ) that opens until late, definitely a must visit if you stay here.
Good:
1. Room is large and comfortable bed.
2. Bathroom was great.
3. Free in house selfserve laundry but takes a long time to wash dry FYI.
CON (read especially if you have no phone service)
1. There is no one onsite.
- This mean you can't send luggage in advance
2. I did not get email with instructions how to check-in. You check in at ANOTHER location.
They said they had trouble sending msg to my email. They do not respond to chat messages in Expedia. I had to chat with expedia who called them on my behalf. Wasted 4 hours trying to check in.
Important note, THERE IS NO PHONEBOOTH nearby. 7/11 has no phone booth. Other facilities (hotel) would not allow you to use their phone....
They need to post alternative contact method other then phone and expedia chat since they are unable to respond.
Its not just me, another hotel guest had the same problem as me as I was exiting hotel...
3. They only offer one time garbage /room cleaning service free of charge.
Additional fee for frequent cleaning/garbage pickup
- Closest garbage dump is 7/11 (5-7 min walk)
4. The wall is thin (poor sound isolation), you can easily hear next door guest
