A number of issues made our stay far from satisfactory.
Firstly, the mattress in our room did not fit the bed frame properly. It was curved at both ends with a deep dip in the middle, making it extremely uncomfortable and resulting in a very poor night’s sleep. Although an extra duvet was provided in an attempt to make it more comfortable, this made no difference.
Secondly, the lift was out of order throughout our stay. This would have been inconvenient in any case, but the stairs were exceptionally steep, making it very difficult to carry our luggage up and down safely.
In addition, the complimentary toiletries were not replenished before our arrival — the shampoo bottle was completely empty. We also noticed that the flooring in the room was clearly worn and showed visible signs of water damage, which gave the room a neglected appearance.
Given the price we paid and the reputation of hotels in this area, we expected a much higher standard of accommodation and service. This was certainly not the experience we had hoped for, especially on what was meant to be a special birthday trip.
