Stunning log home, as featured in Log Home Living Magazine, is nestled in the bluffs, with breathtaking views of Lake Pepin from every room in the house, and from the large deck. The serenity and cozy feeling is accentuated from the surrounding 40 acres of private majestic hard wood forest. 660 foot of lake frontage, easily accessible from the lake (but not from cottage up in bluffs), with variable sandy beach depending on the season. Located 13 miles downriver of Red Wing, near the Wisconsin Villages of Maiden Rock, Stockholm and Pepin. Just 60 minutes from Minneapolis/St. Paul international airport.

Lovely Mother's Day Weekend Getaway

We had a wonderful time staying at this location! The property was clean, cozy, private, and comfortable. The hosts were easy to contact and quickly responded to questions. We enjoyed the beautiful views of Lake Pepin and the hot tub was a nice bonus. The hosts provided ear plugs and eye masks, which was appreciated, because the windows let in a lot of light, and sound travels easily between the open concept main level and upstairs. The basement bedroom had beautiful views as well, and there was a charming screened-in sitting room. The two lofted single beds would be great for adventurous school-aged children, but us adults were afraid of climbing the ladder haha. Fortunately, there were plenty of other beds available for us. We enjoyed our weekend and would stay here again!

Girls Weekend Book Retreat!

The cottage was the perfect cozy spot! It was the perfect spot to host a girls weekend book retreat. The hosts were so accommodating and responsive!! The hot tub was perfect during these cold temps and the views were incredible. We loved the look of the cabin and the fire place. Highly recommend & hope to make it an annual tradition.

Mom’s Weekend

This was our second time on a mom’s winter getaway to this location. We enjoyed the views, the fireplace, and the fully equipped kitchen. The very large kitchen table makes it accessible for foodies to gather and share gourmet recipes and meals. We love Lion Downe!

Peaceful and scenic

This is our second time staying at the Lion Downe Cabin, and we hope to return for a third visit. The outdoor hot tub in winter is "the bomb." Wonderful to sit outside in the cool, crisp air, looking at the stars from a nice warm jetted tub. Everything worked correctly. Even though we were there in winter, the walkway is clear (sanded and salted). The cabin was warm and cozy. Comfortable beds. We saw several eagles, a few deer, and quite a few ice fishing tents on the lake. The cabin is about a 15 minute drive to the nearest restauarant (The Outpost), which was fast, friendly, efficient, and served wonderful food. The only challenge we encountered was some fog, but if you have gps or some decent google maps you can navigate through that. Will definitely return if given the opportunity.

Perfect for a girls weekend!

My girlfriends and I had a fantastic time at Lion Downe. We loved the unique design, stunning views, and the hot tub. The thoughtful gesture of providing wine, cider, coffee, and spices was a welcome addition! My friends couldn’t stop raving about how cool and unique your home is! Seeing photos of tulips blooming along the walkway has us eager to return in the spring or summer to enjoy the downstairs porch, warmer weather and the woods. Hidden gem

This house is amazing! Highly recommend. It’s very unique with beautiful views. Well stocked and equipped kitchen. Lots of space for a group to be comfortable. The house has a castle / Hansel and Gretel vibe. Very unique. We loved it!

Phenomenal!!!

We had an 8 party girls weekend and I must say this place was spectacular! Plenty of places to sleep, enough bathrooms to go around, kitchen and dining area were a hit for our large group. The view overlooking the river; speechless. Of course the hot tub was a huge hit. We are all very pleased with the property and the communication with the owners was beyond exceptional! Will definitely keep this place favorited in my listings!

Very unhappy,,!

The general place was as stated ,beautiful over the bluffs . We rented cabin for over look and hot tub to enjoy a vacation . When it can to hot tub it was nothing more than tub hot water , jets didn't work at all , when you turned on jets water shot up in air one seat had jets . So at this time cabin was over price hot tub is junk . Looking for a refund !!!

This is a wonderful property. The views are gorgeous! Good communications with host. We had a great time with family. My advice is to carefully review the sleeping arrangements listed for the property and ask questions to ensure the beds/bedrooms will meet your party’s needs.

Amazing Cottage and Views!

Ten women came to spend a relaxing and fun 3 days at Lion Downe’s Cottage. Our expectations were beyond exceeded! From the natural beauty of the surrounding landscape and stunning views, to the absolute gorgeous cottage, which was just as listed and accurately matched the photos. We couldn’t have had a more fabulous time! We loved the deck and we sooo loved the screened in room downstairs. One minor little detail that did not make a difference but thought you might like to know: there were only 7 or 8 forks total, and there were 10 of us. You might want to add a few more. Thank you Rob and Heather for sharing your beautiful home with us. We plan on coming back again!

Our “Seven Sisters” Getaway

We (7 best friends) so thoroughly enjoyed the gorgeous cottage with the billion-dollar view!!! Everything - from the charm, quality, and decor of the cottage, to the extremely comfortable beds, well-equipped kitchen, extra towels, board games and books, and tons of cozy lap blankies, was absolutely TOP NOTCH. And the best part? Hot-tubbing under the infinite, sparkling stars. Some of us had never seen so many stars in our lives. What a treasure of a place. Lion Downe Cottage

We recently rented Lion Downe Cottage for our book club annual getaway. What an amazing property and view!! We thoroughly enjoyed the deck and group living space and there were plenty of bathrooms for a group of 8 women. We did need to shuffle sleeping arrangements as we have several older members that were uncomfortable with the access, but the younguns were able to take those beds. The kitchen was well-appointed and the game closet fully loaded. Would definitely choose this property again!!!
