The hotel Cofresí is very old and run down! Rooms are in terrible conditions. Mattress was outrageous how old, dirty and worn down it was and the sheets were paper thin and very old. Loved everything else about the resort, the dining, the staff, the pools all areas very clean and friendly. They need to update that side and it will be the best Puerto Plata has to offer.

Usually enjoy our stay here. The staff are always friendly and helpful. The rooms can be hit and miss, but it seems that something always need attention, such as phones that don’t work, sinks that suddenly start leaking, tubs that don’t work etc. It’s difficult to get around if you have mobility issues, I do not recommend as even with shuttles etc., there’s always stairs to climb! The food in the buffet has improved greatly this year. Unfortunately we have very little luck getting reservations for al la cartes, never seems to be anything available. Not really a fan of the different levels of service I.e. VIP for small things like a coffee shop or ice cream. Overall, a good experience. Will return if the price is right!

Absolutely Horrible Experience – Avoid at All Costs! Our stay at Lifestyle Resort was a complete nightmare from the moment we arrived. The room was flooded, smelled like mildew, and had bugs crawling around. It was dirty, unsafe, and looked like it hadn’t been maintained in years. The food was the worst part. There were no options—just the same bland, barely warm slop every day. Everything tasted like it had been sitting out for hours. We couldn’t even find anything safe or decent to eat. Several of us ended up with food poisoning, and the resort staff was no help at all. On top of that, no one spoke English, so getting help with anything was nearly impossible. The place is nothing like what they advertise online—completely run down, dirty, and sketchy. This place should be avoided at all costs. Total scam.

Cofresi resort is one of the rare resorts that has buffet food that’s actually good which included dominican staples like pastelon and also italian lasagna. The rooms are spacious and clean. The rooms come with a huge balcony and comfortable a/c as well as a fridge stocked with water, soda, and President beer. Wifi unfortunately doesn’t work unless your room is next to the lobby so I had to use up my roaming data plan. We had access to several pools and a beach—the beach was good, though the Atlantic coast is colder than the southern Caribbean one. Drinks were also good and staff friendly.

Rooms are outdated. Staff at reception are unresponsive. Bathroom toilet was clogged, had to request 4 times to clear the toilet blockage. On the last day, just before our check out, water ran out in the shower and nothing was done to restore the water supply. The staff in the dining area / bar expect you to tip them every time you ask for something and if not they are pretty rude or cold shoulder with you.

Our visit wasn’t the worst but we were told we were upgraded on our room and it was actually worse than the room and view I originally booked. We had to move rooms because the ceiling was leaking and was moved to a room with double beds when I ordered a king size suite. We were finally moved a second time but had to move to the third floor. As an all inclusive package I paid for all my meals to be included yet every time I went to book my dinners they were not booking anymore. Why am I paying for something you aren’t giving me? The transportation lacks when it comes to dinner reservations. People stand and wait for hours and decide to walk.
