Great location, could be better.

Firstly the location is excellent, and this was definitely the biggest plus point. An 8 minute walk to the colosseum and near plenty of public transport. Also there’s air conditioning which wasn’t advertised, and was a welcome relief in the August Rome heat! Communication with host wasn’t particularly smooth. Had to chase him for check in instructions / address / check out etc, which made the process a lot more stressful. These instructions should be provided ahead of time and automatically. The property itself is ok, there isn’t bunk beds now in the second room, which our children were disappointed by. The cleanliness was fair, could be better, especially in the bathrooms, sinks etc are looking tired. When we arrived there was no toilet paper or soap but this was rectified quickly. The crockery in the kitchen was all mismatched and all over the place. We were also charged tourist tax in error for the children but I did manage to get a refund for this. We parked our hire car on the road perpendicular to the property, when we went to our car the following morning, 10 other cars on that street had had their windows smashed and had been broken into - so don’t leave any valuables visible! Thankfully ours was not damaged. All in all, the excellent location and air con almost makes the downsides worth it. But check reviews on other sites too before booking so you’re fully aware / informed.
