Villa Murano

Good location and very friendly staff and knowledgeable. They stored our luggage since slew arrived early and put in our room. We can’t wait to stay there again.

Try a different place!

Villa Murano is in a safe neighborhood, about 10 minutes walk down to Fira which is the city center. It is a bit of an uphill walk for half of it, so if you have mobility challenges, this might be hard for you. The front desk is very friendly but not 24 hours. They have a 24 hour phone number but my cell phone service was terrible in Santorini and I tried to call several times but couldn’t make a connection. They have a relationship with a driver which was nice, but we used the driver 3 times and he was late everytime: 10 minutes from picking us up at the airport, 20 minutes from Santo Winery, and 30 minutes from the hotel to the ferry port at 3am. I couldn’t call hime because I had bad cell phone service; wish I could’ve used a taxi so I didn’t have to worry that he would forget to pick us up. The room is small good sized and there’s a pool which is nice since beaches are hard to get to. The paint in the pool stuck to my skin and gave me an allergic reaction. Mary (front desk) was very friendly but there are so many hotels in the area, I’d recommend trying a different one.

Most interesting island!

Bit of a hike uphill into the town of Fira and no shops nearby for bread etc. Rooms were compact but clean and comfortable. Very helpful staff (Katerina) and superb recommendation for a trip round the Caldera on a catamaran meant for 12 and occupied only by the 4 of us! Mix up with the booking as one reservation with 2 different names generated a double charge for pick up from the port as it was classed as 2 separate bookings - 40€ instead of 20€!!! Local buses were really good and a trip to Oia was very worthwhile. Another visit to Akrotiri to see the Bronze Age archaeological excavations was another visit worth making on the local buses.

Everyone there is very nice and extremely helpful. The best part about this hotel is the staff!! The rooms are simple but clean and the location is not as convenient as I had hoped.

Charming Villa near the center of town

We had a great stay at Villa Murano. They were so helpful in helping us make sure we got the most out of our stay. They provided us with a map and information on all the island highlights. The room was cozy and quiet & the staff is so welcoming. I'd highly recommend staying at Villa Murano!

Worst Hotel in the entire trip

Had following issues: 1) Had notified of late checkin. When we arrived there was no one to check us in. I rang them up with my US mobile incurring international roaming charges before they showed up 2) Room description said ocean view. We got a room with a 1x1 foot window near the ceiling (had to get up on to a stool to see outside and barely saw the water) 3) Room was in a really bad shape with no shower curtain [made the whole bathroom wet] and only 2 towels for the 4 of us. Ofcourse there was no one to call to get this rectified. There was no exhaust from bathroom, so we had to open the front door to let out all the steam - incredible Recommend Expedia remove this hotel from their list...

Great and cheapest accommodation in the city!

The experience is good. It's the cheapest accommodation in Fira. The host was very friendly and helpful. They even offer us a ridd to the airport for €20 which you can share the cost among the group. We even got to keep our luggage in their office when we check out in the morning and come back at night to redeem our luggage. We got a nice room facing the pool. Everything was alright. The only problem is that the place was a little hard to find. You need GPS or you can ask around to find the place. You need to go through a maze from the bus Central station through the housing areas of the Greeks. But besides that, everything was great. A recommended place to stay if you want the cheapest place to stay in the city, Fira. It's all worth it.

Wrong hotel

We booked Villa Murano but were transferred to Grand Murano after we tried for 2 hours to contact reception staff. Hotel was on an exceptionally busy street and the traffic noise was unrelenting (24 hours ) No staff present. Reception rarely manned. Pair of faux diamond earrings disappeared from the room. Room was not cleaned in 7 days Definitely not the 3 star accommodation we booked. I

So difficult to get there

The boss of Villa Murano treated me as a theaf.

The boss wanted me to open my luggage because he thought that I stole 2 towels from them. I explained him about it. He asked housekeeper about it. The housekeeper proofed that I was right. "I'm not a theaf" that I said. He didn't apologize me. I felt so terrible.

Villa Murano is about a 15 min walk to the centre of Fira. The hotel receptionist is very nice and very helpful. The owner picked us up at the airport. However, it was a headache trying to organize drop off at the port, which is included in the reservation. We were left a note that we have to pay 5 euros each for drop off and at 6 am for a 8:30 am ferry. We called and confirmed with someone for 7 am, but the driver still knocked on our door at 6:30 asking why we were late. He was annoyed that he had to wait for us and was not very friendly. We didn't need to pay the 5 euros each. So the overall experience was very flaky and confusing. I would not stay here again.

Ok hotel if you have very limited budget

It is not very far from fira downtown if you don not mind walking up and down on some hill road. Do Not expect too much with the price you pay for. It is like a motel 6 in States. When we stayed in this place there were a group of young students partying all night outside at the pool. It is a OK place if you just need somewhere to sleep.

Great place to watch sunrise

This hotel is about 10 min walk to Fira, so it's not too bad, but the room I stay was in the lower floor which doesn't have good wifi reception, plus the toilet facility is very basic which no shower curtain or anything, so after shower you can expect this toilet are wet everywhere. However, the deck upstair is a great place to watch sunrise though, it makes it worths to stay.

Hard to find but nice

We came in on the late ferry and although the hotel offers a ferry transport, there was no contact information on the site for us to tell them when we were coming in, so we took the bus to the hotel. When the reception person pulled up in a van, he seemed angry with us that we didn't take his van from the ferry but we looked for a sign from Villa Murano and did not find one. The next day we had to go back down to the port for a trip and we asked for transport and they said it was only when we were leaving or first arriving. They called a taxi which charged us more than what the desk said they'd charge but that's not their fault. Anyway the room itself was very pleasant, with a room up a little ladder/stairs and a clean bathroom and little couch area downstairs. The location was very good but it was So Hard To Find because there was no street address provided on hotels.com, and locals did not seem to know where it was.

Budget hotel with potential - but variable

We only wanted a budget room for a few hours between lat night ferry and plane, so had low expectations. The room was clean, though the mattresses in poor condition with the springs poking through. After some difficulties with our reservation and connecting to the hotel (the number given was a fax), the hotel arranged a taxi to pick us up from the port (€15) and take use to the airport (free), which was very helpful. Sleep was less successful - the beds, the fact that we were woken by a man at 7am plastering the outside of our wall (!) and the fact that the hotel sits in a tight loop of the main road. There was no hot water for a shower, and the same tepid water must have been used to make our tepid tea and instant coffee for breakfast. Overall then, a disappointment, but it does have potential. Maybe too early in the season?
