The staff at the Wyndham Grand were very friendly and welcoming, always with a smile. The location is convenient, and the stay included beach chairs and towels, which were nice, and I liked that the pool stayed open until 3am.
The downsides were mostly cost and lack of included services. Parking was forty dollars a night, breakfast was twenty five dollars per person, and room service added delivery fees plus a twenty two percent service charge. The AC in our room squeaked constantly, our TV remote barely worked, and even with a reservation we waited thirty minutes for breakfast because the hostess admitted she meant to call us but forgot. The “complimentary” champagne and s’mores were poorly organized, they had one time posted, it actually served at a different time so we basically missed the champagne and the workers were nice enough to go out of their way to get us a cup. Which felt more guilty than enjoyable.
The hotel caters heavily to families with kids, with crowded pools, outdoor movies, and children’s activities. Parents may find that appealing, but for couples it felt less relaxing. We spent about fifteen hundred dollars for three nights, and while we enjoyed our trip, it was not because of the hotel itself. Unless you are coming specifically for the spa, you can find similar beachfront options at a better value.
