We were surprise to find out that hotel Fransiskus is also a church. It is a pretty big hotel with very simple but extremely clean rooms. Breakfast was rich and provided everything we needed. The staff was attentive and helpful. Parking is available and the town is in a walking distance. We had great dinner at Narfeyrarstofa downtown - Excellent!!

Extremely friendly service, great breakfast, central location, everything was clean. The only issue was that the internet speed was enough for email but not for youtube.

Unusual for being a hotel with its own Catholic Church. Adequate rooms overlooking harbour. Breakfast choices different to the norm - no Skyr (!) and cold baked egg but amazing selection of seeds and chicken soup on offer. Just 350m from Baldur ferry and fabulous fish and chips food cart even closer (no restaurant at hotel).

We found the hotel nice and clean. The breakfast was good and everything running low was quickly attended to. The checkin was quick and friendly. We noted arriving to our room that there was a coffee machine but no electric kettle. The staff quickly send one to our room. We certainly will recommend your hotel to anyone who wish to stay overnight in a conveniently located place at Stykkisholmur

Catastrophique. A fuir...

De loin le plus mauvais hotel (et le plus cher ...) de tout notre road trip en islande: chambre minuscule, vue sur tuyau evacuation hopital a 3 m (tres bruyant, impossible d'ouvrir fenetre pour aerer/rafraichir...), salle de bain minuscule avec lave main en tant que lavabo, bouteille shampoing a meme le sol (bouteille de supermarche rempli d'eau par le precedent voyageur visiblement faute de shampooing suffisant), douchette qui fuit partout, odeur d'egout sans possibilite d'aerer, television ne fonctionnant pas (on a demande a la reception qui nous ont repondu qu'on ne savait pas l'allumer - LOL... en insistant gentiment il nous a dit monter voir "dans 15 min", mais il n'est jamais passe... petit dejeuner tres limite sans plat chaud (juste des oeufs au plat froids). Et surtout un personnel qui ne dit meme pas bonjour ni au petit dejeuner ni dans les couloirs... hallucinant... le tout dans une deco insolite tres tres catho (ca aurait pu etre sympa...) mais tres tres froid... passez votre chemin, il y a bcp mieux avec guesthouse dans le meme village ou encore a Borgames (hotel varmaland moins cher et top)...

Quaint hotel with strange character

This was a great little hotel on the hill of a small quaint adorable town. The rooms were small, but they were comfortable for 2 people. Located within walking distance to anything you'd want from the town. The hotel staff was very friendly and accommodating. This hotel is definitely a little different. It used to be a convent for nuns as it sits right next to the towns hospital. The rooms and hallways feel like it. But, it was cheaper than the Foss Hotel down the road and was comfortable enough for a 1 night stay. The breakfast in the morning was a little strange, but it did the job as there wasn't much else in town open to eat at the time. Would highly recommend if you're just stopping in town for a night! Clean and friendly and good value.

The property is a convent with all the expected charm of a convent. The televisions do not work. The room had the plumbing sound of running water over the bed for much of the night. The views were nice of the harbor but the windows were very dirty. There is no landscaping other than a parking lot shared by a retirement home. The centerpiece of the lobby is a 1970s chapel and a life sized mural of Jesus. There is a Stale smell throughout the facility. No restaurant or facility other than breakfast room. Breakfast was acceptable. We dined at the far superior nearby Foss Hotel which was within walking distance.
