Good value, good location, just generally good.

On a quiet side-street, yet close to the Rijksmuseum, it's a small friendly hotel with helpful staff and reasonable prices. Recommended highly.

No complaints.

The hotel's location is on a quiet street, but walking distance from central Amsterdam. Good transport links to/from the airport, as a bus goes direct. On arrival, the woman at reception was friendly & helpful. The room was clean & tidy, the shower in en suite bathroom was easy to use (not always the case). Small TV in the room which had BBC1, which is good for UK visitors. I didn't have breakfast at hotel so can't comment on that, but everything else was fine. I'd recommend this place to visitors.

Basic comfort / location / price winner !!

A pleasant hotel in a great location a quiet street off the main arteries, yet close to museums, Vondel Park, and the tourist - trodden Leideseplan area.The rooms are not elaborate but all was in good working condition with plenty of hot water, well functioning shower/ tub, etc. Hotel staff was pleasant, and helpful with our needs. We booked this at the last-minute, and it was half the price of the typical fancier hotels Americans favor. We did not take breakfast here as our group was early-risers and anxious to explore the wealth of dining in the city. I would plan to stay here again.

I loved it

clean conveniently located small hotel

Very nice, clean, small hotel. Not a lot of amenities, but just few blocks from the center of the tow, less than 5 minutes from museum plaza and main shopping street. Very good bath tub - important if you are coming from Africa :-). Staff is friendly and very helpful. If you use the room to sleep and spend most time on the town this hotel is an excellent option.

Great location & friendly staff

Lovely little hotel very close to Leidesplein (for airport buses) & next to the beautiful Vondelpark. Over a 2 1/2 day stay we only saw one member of staff more than once but they were all helpful & nice. We arrived early & our room wasn't yet ready, but we sat in the delightful little garden at the back for a while; & again on the last day, when we returned hot & tired before leaving for the airport (glasses of water & phone charging kindly provided). Our medium-sized top floor back room was small for 2 people. Very clean & comfortable, but extremely hot with windows facing SE & SW - lovely in the winter I'm sure, but a bit much in a July heatwave. We did get a fan though (had to ask for it, someone else must have borrowed it previously). The teeny tiny lift is indeed the slowest in the world but preferable IMO to the precipitous narrow winding staircase (I banged my knee twice on the banister!). Breakfast good & plentiful - cold meats, cheeses, hard-boiled eggs, 3 kinds of bread, cereal, yogurt, fruit, juices, tea & coffee.

Great Location

My sister and I loved our stay at Hotel Hestia. The beds were comfy and the location was quiet and safe. The breakfast was good and it was available until late morning. The bathroom was very small but functional. We would recommend Hotel Hestia to travellers to Amsterdam who want to be near the action but not right in it.

Perfect for the cultural sites in Amsterdam

This was a perfect location for the museums and for avariety of food options. the hotel staff was very attentive. The room was comfortable and service was excellent. Thanks for making our day in Amsterdam memorable.

OK for a one night stay

On the plus side, the area is really nice, and it's quiet here. We had a room on the top floor and opened the window and slept really well. The TV is flat panel and gets lots of English stations. This is a budget hotel so I wasn't expecting anything spectacular but the room really was tiny - fine if all you're doing is sleeping there. The bathroom was also very tiny and while the shower did have a curtain, it was impossible not to get the floor wet. There wasn't enough room for toiletries next to the sink. If I was on a tight budget I would stay here again. It's really easy to find and in a great neighborhood.

Great stay in Amsterdam

Loved Hotel Hestia. Room was fairly small, but as I'm out exploring the city all day/night, I really only needed it to sleep & shower, so it was a phenomenal value. Wonderful location on an extremely safe street - minutes away from Leidseplein and steps to Vondelpark. Hotel staff was extremely friendly. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would definitely consider staying again.

Great, quiet location. Very comfortable beds. TINY bathroom, which smelled moldy. Hard to take a shower without water getting everywhere. Found a used condom in the room. SO gross.

Excellent staff....

I stayed in a single room. It is very small, but has everything you need. The staff of this establishment are what make it a wonderful place. Arnold was the best hotel staff I have every met. He made sure I was comfortable. He helped me find my way around the city and he was just overall friendly. I will be staying here again. I will just be getting a larger room.

Fantastic location, but just far enough out of the main hustle and bustle of Amsterdam. Hotel staff very friendly. If you are just after a bed for the evening in a good location this is the hotel for you.

Hotel in very convenient area

Too many staff changes. No idea who was in charge. Muddle with room booking because hotel refused to accept telephone booking. Moved to three different rooms in 4-night stay. No fire alarm when building next door caught fire. No fire escape to 4th floor. Very steep stairs, hopeless for disabled, (one of my party) if lift disabled during fire.

Nice small hotel in great location

Hotel is located on a quiet street just a couple of minutes walk from Leidesplein, a great eating and shopping area. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Room was clean and very comfortable. We would definitely stay there again. For a small extra charge, you can have breakfast --- cereal, fruit, eggs, cheese, meat and toast.

Good and Bad

The room was extremely small, but efficient. It was quiet. Staff were very helpful, but slow to clean the rooms often not showing up till after 3pm. The price was good. The big advantage is that you are only a few blocks from the main museums and lots of restaurants. I would go back.
