I stayed at Irving House to spend two days in Boston-Cambridge before my college reunion. It was the perfect stay: walking distance to Harvard Square, lovely New England living room, clean, comfortable and quiet bedroom. Breakfast was delicious, with many choices. There is always staff, and always coffee and tea available throughout the day. It was rainy the days I stayed, but staff had plenty of umbrellas. I was somewhat concerned about shared bathroom, but there were two on my floor, always super clean, and available whenever I needed it. Overall, this was a cozy, homey place to come back to every day after roaming around all over the city. I have a mind to stay here next time I'm in the Boston area.

I really enjoyed staying at Irving house for a few days. It was reasonably priced, the location was good, and the room was comfortable. I was staying on business, but would also consider staying with my family.

Uncomfortable and old, only perk is location

The BnB is conveniently located, since it's very close to Harvard and Harvard Square. But the quality of accommodation offered is very low for the price. I realize of course that this is a BnB and not a hotel, but for the price I paid ($235 per night plus tax) I would have expected renovated interiors and a comfortable bed. Instead, my room reminded me of the room where I lived as a grad student, and the bed was quite uncomfortable.

Didn't notice the room is with shared bathroom when booking. But it is very okay as there are multiple bathrooms on each floor. Had never experienced occupied during stay. Very clean, nice, safe, and convenient place.

Next to Harvard; overpriced

Right next to Harvard and easy to get around by public transport. Breakfast was fine, but not great. The beds were old, but I saw them replacing some beds just as I was checking out. I was there for the Boston marathon I understand an increase in price for the occasion, but $370/night for this place was outrageous.

If you’re on a budget in Cambridge this place is probably fine. I found my room to be very loud and uncomfortable with there not being an air conditioner and it being a particularly warm night. Parking is horrific in their small lot. If you drive a pickup or a full sized suv you will have a problem.

A fine stay. European flavor. No elevator. Rooms with private bath appear to be on the 4th floor. Was clean and breakfast was lovely. It’s a small room but I was spending one night and it was half the price of the name brand hotels.

Sound carries easily from the hallways into the rooms, so your experience will depend somewhat on your fellow travelers. Even one night owl can wake the whole house. The breakfast is quite good, with several nice options. The neighborhood seems safe--it's mainly residential, and probably all Harvard folks. I was worried about sharing a bathroom, but it always seemed clean. Either the other guests were very tidy or the staff were cleaning frequently through the day.
