Great location since its a short distance to downtown, but is really due for a renovation. Room was pretty basic and clean and did the trick for a weekend trip. Front desk lady was a bit rude.

Sufficient

It was clean and the beds were comfortable. You can see that they have updated the furnishings. However we stayed on on of the top floors and early morning Hot water didn’t exist. Probably because not enough people were awake to force the water to the top floors during normal AM or evening bathing times. The place was convenient for the price, yet difficult to get in and out of because of its location. Overall it was decent, not highend like most hotels in the area, but sufficient.

The light from the parking lot shown through our window so strongly that even when closing the curtains, the lights spread through the room The upstairs dining facility has come a great long way since the first time we’ve stayed here but they still need assistance. They offered a special of grilled shrimp for $17 but nothing came with it but the grilled shrimp. We were asked to sit in the area of the bar to accommodate the servers that were available. We did not mind that however the guests in the area of the bar we’re so loud that it made feeling comfortable having dinner there exceptionally difficult.

It was a cool shape & place. Parking was easy. The walls were very thin though because we heard our neighbors party almost every night. We also found 1 roach in our room which was very disappointing.

Definitely Get What You Pay For

This place was very mediocre. It just felt dirty and old on the inside. The bathroom was cramped and worn down. The walls were thin, so traffic could be heard all night, along with noisy neighbors. A fraternity had rented out the lower few floors, so the elevators were especially slow. It definitely was the cheaper option for Charleston, but it definitely felt very old.

The front desk staff was excellent. Housekeeping was a little lax with providing toilet paper when the roll was very low as well as providing clean towels. One shuttle driver, Thomas, was very rude and came 10 minutes early on the last run of the night (scheduled for 10:45 PM). He was confrontational when questioned about his early arrival and seemed to be departing early. I asked him to wait for my wife as she was making her way to the shuttle at the scheduled departure time of 10:45 PM. He reluctantly waited while staring me down. It was not a pleasant experience. All the other drivers were very respectful and courteous.
