Do Better Please

Upon my arrival on 8/12/2025, (approximately 4:15 p.m.), my initial contact with Cheryl at the front desk was not professional or pleasant. She was not welcoming towards me. As I was checking in; she without warning walked away from the counter and proceeded to happily assist other guests in the lobby area. Her negative demeanor was evident, e.g. facial expressions, nonverbals. Shortly after I took my luggage to the room, I returned to the desk for parking validation assistance. Within seconds of her beginning to assist me, she summoned another guest from behind me to assist him first. A total disregard and disrespect towards me. Another guest walked up beside me expecting to be immediately assisted as well. She may have had an epiphany, as she advised that guest that she was currently assisting me, as she aggressively fumbled through the parking validation binder. My Guest shared his unpleasant experience with Cheryl. Suggested upgrades: lobby, elevators, carpet, room, specifically the bathroom. It appeared to be very outdated. The bathroom had a worn appearance, to include the knobs on the sink, tub, and toilet. The price and stay were not comparable. On a positive note, the bed was very comfortable. Upon checkout (8/14/2025) Cheryl appeared to be in good spirits. It is my suggestion that people that cannot positively relate to people, should 'Not' apply and/or accept employment that requires direct interaction with the public. Guests should not be mistreated by the Staff.

A Disappointing Stay My recent 4-day stay was highly disappointing and fell far short of a 4-star experience. The hotel feels more like a 2-star property due to its outdated facilities and subpar service. The breakfast buffet was chaotic and unhygienic. There was no one checking if guests were actually staying at the hotel, which led to a disorganized and messy scene. It was a scramble, not a relaxed morning meal. My room was not cleaned at all during my entire stay. When I asked about housekeeping, the only offer was to drop off fresh towels and take out the trash. The hotel appears to be severely understaffed, with front desk employees handling multiple roles, including concierge, housekeeping, and maintenance. My only positive interaction was with Felicia at the front desk. She was incredibly kind and helpful throughout my stay. However, a different, older front desk employee seemed unprepared and had to rely on Felicia for assistance. Unfortunately, the overall experience was poor, and I would not recommend this hotel. I will not be returning.

There were multiple issues with our first two rooms but they took care of us and upgraded our room. They were very nice about our towel refreshments and constantly were greeting us as we arrived and left the hotel. Thank you for your hospitality Whitehall!

Recommended, but had one problem.

Nice room, but the so-called City View "upgrade" was less than impressive -- mainly facing one other building. In addition, a drunk guest in an adjoining room woke us up several times rattling the doorknob to our room. Location was very convenient to restaurants and transportation centers. Would recommend.

Came to Chicago for Market Days. This was the closest hotel to North Halsted with vacancy. The room and the facilities were fine, but the free breakfast was probably the worst I have ever had at a hotel. Also, the toiletries were not great (poor quality and inconsistent offerings). I would probably stay here if I was in a jam, but I wouldn’t seek this hotel out again.
