I had a very good stay at the Whitehall Hotel. It's an older property, but it is kept in good shape. The room itself was excellent - clean with new furniture - and the bathroom large. My only quibble is that there are no towel racks anywhere. Overall, considering the low rate in an excellent location (The Gold Coast) full of 5 star hotels, this is definitely a hotel to consider. Nothing fancy, but worth the stay.

The best things about this hotel are location and friendly staff. Really clentral location. Beds are comfortable. Facilities are dated and a bit run down. Breakfast is included, but not very good. Hot foods were cold. Selection of alternatives to the hot foods are extremely limited and run out early.

Location is awesome, and for the price point this is a great deal. Property overall could use some sprucing up, and, based on responsive, the hotel seemed understaffed. Housekeeping was iffy…they “forgot” to clean my room four of the five days, despite setting up daily cleaning when I checked in. They also requested that I be out of the room at a certain time each day for them to clean. I was happy to comply, but disappointed when I returned at the end of the day only to find the room hadn’t been cleaned. I found the staff to be friendly and pleasant, but with so few of them it seemed they couldn’t consistently meet guests’ needs.

Enjoyed staying in downtown Chicago for the first time, the hotel was ok, nothing special. They held our bags for us which was nice. Breakfast was not great, but then again not many buffet breakfasts in the US are.
