My husband and I were on a road trip from north central TX to Camp LeJuene NC for our first grandchild’s birth. We made reservations for a king non-smoking room (the first room listed on Red Roof Inn under Hotel.com. When the itinerary arrived it showed a smoking room.
Arrived at 9:00 pm to the Inn and the front desk woman was dressed down like she’d just woke up and frazzled. She was able to switch us to one two queen beds non smoking so we took it. When we got into room 107 we found the door wouldn’t open again to leave the room. We were trapped in the room. We tried the phone and it was dead. And the TV was even dead.
I used my cell phone to call the front desk which rang forever before anyone answered.
The women said she’d send maintenance over. It ended up taking them close to an hour to get us out. The maintenance man got us into a “one queen bed room” upstairs. He explained the rooms upstairs were rarely assigned. He did kindly help us carry my heavy suitcase up the steep stairs. We never received a key for the room we were moved to. We were told there were no other rooms up stairs being used.
Upon entering the room at 12:00 midnight we found that the room hadn’t been suppled or used in quite a while. Only had one trash can, nothing but one bar of soap and the room was stuffy and hot. It took a couple hours to cool it down. We were so exhausted by then that we climbed in the one queen bed but found was hard and uncomfortable so we both didn’t get much sleep.
Front desk was very friendly. Room was fine but bed squeaky, loud due to neighbor dogs barking and train blared horn multiple times. If you can tune this out then all will be well. Clean.

I paid extra for a refundable room becuase you don’t know what rooms look like before you go there. We got to this place and the rooms had what looked like excrement on the chair, the beds had stains on the sides, the bathrooms were dirty, there was holes in the wall and the outlets were open allowing my child to put his fingers in, we left the room 5 mins after getting the key and worst part is I wasn’t allowed my refund. I am very disappointed with Expedia and how I was taken advantage of by paying for a room before seeing it.
