The location was great as it was convenient and close to the public beaches. The small pool and hot tub were nice and the beach chairs, towels, and washer/dryer were wonderful additions. Unfortunately, we had problems that were not adequately addressed, despite letting our host know. When we tried to lock the doors, they would not lock properly despite following key code directions. We think it was a battery issue but can’t be sure. Most upsetting and inconvenient was that the front bathroom macerating toilet stopped functioning properly after the first night and backed up the plumbing, leading to sewage issue and backup in the shower and sink. Needless to say, we couldn’t use that bathroom again so only had one bathroom between us. The host, Anita Kay, was contacted and was slow but initially pleasant, apologetic, and offered to compensate us with a partial refund. On the night prior to leaving, we also noticed very tiny light colored insects in the kitchen sink and traveling on the sink side counter. I’m not from Florida so am not sure what they were. Worst of all was that when I got in touch with the host, she immediately attempted to blame US for the toilet issue, stating that it was a plastic bag found to have flushed down the toilet but I have no young children and we would never do such a thing. The host said her housecleaner said it flushed fine when she cleaned before us (it flushed fine too for us the first few times). Be careful with this rental!
