Everything about fota island is brilliant. The staff is so lovely all the time and the place is spotless.the food is brilliant..could not fault it..the best breakfast ever to b served..only fault waz we didnt stay longer in fota island but will definitely be bsck again. Thank you do much to all of the staff. John McNulty

We arrived late are were appointed a room which smelled strongly of chemicals. As an asthma sufferer and presently on steroids I couldn’t stay in same. At reception a very pleasant and helpful young man explained that the room was newly renovated, thus the chemical smell( paint or carpet adhesive) anyway, he went to extrordainary lengths to sort us out and restored our faith in this 5 star establishment. Well done Joe, ask for a raise you deserve it!!! Thank you for turning an unpleasant experience into a positive and happy one.

A gem in the rough

We were so disappointed in the overall experience at Fota! It seemed criminal to be disappointed, as this was truly a beautiful facility! There were a few staff who really treated us spectacularly, however, there were more who just missed the mark. They could really use some training on enhancing the customer experience. The bar and restaurant, especially. We were initially assigned a room with a lovely layout, king bed, plush robes- just lovely. Then, 4 hours in, the toilet stopped working! They moved us a few doors down into a wheelchair assist room with a double bed. Bathroom facilities not conducive to relaxation, a shower that barely trickled, no tub, paper thin robes. Said they’d overbooked the hotel and had no other room for us, which we would understand, it was just the delivery of the information that was appalling. The experience overall left us cold. We were compensated with a small bottle of wine and some chocolates, and the next morning the gal who checked us out comp’d our bar bill and a small room service fee. That made us feel better. But we won’t return.
