After arriving at the Twin Puffins (located a short 15-minute drive from downtown Homer), you can relax in the cozy cabin accentuated by warm, rich and natural golden hues of native Alaskan spruce.
The Twin Puffins features two comfy bedrooms; the Blue Bedroom is furnished with a king size bed and includes an en suite bathroom equipped with a standard size tub and shower. The Green Bedroom can be arranged with either two twin beds or one king size bed, offering flexible sleeping options. For additional guests, the living room provides a futon-style sofa. The main bathroom, conveniently situated between the bedrooms and living area, boasts an over-sized shower. For added convenience, a full-size washer and dryer are are available in the cabin, with soap provided, so you can pack light. The kitchen comes fully equipped, featuring a refrigerator with a small freezer, a full-size microwave, a stove/oven and a dishwasher. Other amenities include satellite TV, a flat panel TV with surround sound and DVD player in each bedroom. In addition to the TVs in the bedrooms there is a large flat screen TV in the living room. The living room stereo system can also be heard through built in speakers in the ceiling above the deck. Entertainment options include a small selection of movies and board games insuring you stay entertained even if the weather keeps you indoors. Wired internet and WiFi are available for your convenience.
From the living room, French doors open on to a spacious wooden deck; an ideal spot for relaxation while taking in the spectacular views of Kachemak Bay, the Kenai Mountains, Grewingk Glacier, as well as a peaceful green pasture with a large pond. Depending on the season, you may admire beautiful wildflowers like the brilliant, fuchsia-colored fireweed, or pick fresh raspberries along the driveway. Homer is also a Birder's delight, especially in the Spring when migrating shorebirds pass through. The area around the cabin is home to a variety of birds, including the Golden-crowned Sparrow (the 'oh-dear-me' bird) with it's distinctive call, Bald Eagles and other raptors, and frequent sightings of Sandhill Cranes. Wildlife, such as moose and occasionally black bears or coyotes, may be seen. Moose are known to enjoy a swim in the pond during the evening. Be sure to keep your camera handy to capture these memorable moments.
