I stayed at the Fairmont Orchid Gold and left very disappointed. I paid over $1,000 per night expecting a true luxury experience, but the reality was far from it.
The rooms are extremely standard, nothing special at all. They advertise them as “renovated,” but honestly, they look average and unimpressive. For this price point, I expected something far more modern, comfortable, and unique.
Service across the hotel was also not what you would expect from a so-called world-class resort. Most of the staff did not seem very attentive or welcoming. It often felt like guests were an afterthought rather than the priority.
The only exception was Laura at the Gold Front Desk, who was outstanding. She was professional, warm, and truly helpful. Unfortunately, one great employee doesn’t make up for the lack of service overall.
Yes, the property itself is nice, but it is nowhere near what the hotel’s reputation and marketing suggest. It is not the level of luxury or service you would expect for the money charged.
Bottom line: This hotel is overpriced for what it offers. It is okay at best, but definitely not worth the premium. I left feeling like I wasted a lot of money on an experience that was just average.
