The hotel was very cute and well maintained. The biggest draw back is its location right in front of the presidential palace and the Zocolo. There was a major protest March for international women’s day that was directly down the street in front and ended at the Zocolo. This March had thousands of people in it and was completely bonkers. We were told “there will be a women’s arch in the 8th”. We were not told what it would be like. It was chaos. No cars, taxis, Ubers could even get close to the hotel. Getting in and out of the hotel was a disaster due to the safety shutters, which are akin to hurricane shutters, being down. The employees of the hotel failed to convey to people who are not from there the enormity of this March and what exactly would be happening. If I had know, we would have switched hotels before that day. Lastly, the next day(the day we were leaving) there was another protest with blocked streets again. My flight was at 1 pm but I had to leave by 6:30 am just to be able to get out of there. This is a cute hotel and very walkable but be aware that a lot of protests happen in front of it due to where the presidential palace is located exactly behind.

From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with a fresh wet towel to freshen up and a delightful degustation of Mezcal or tequila, setting the tone for an unforgettable stay. The hotel is beautifully adorned with lush green gardens and plants everywhere, making it a biophilic paradise. The ambiance is serene and visually stunning, offering a perfect blend of nature and luxury. The hotel managers are incredible, with special mention to Fernanda, who clearly loves her job and goes above and beyond to ensure that every guest feels special. Her dedication to making each visit unforgettable is truly commendable. She makes an effort to personally know each guest, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The entire staff at Hotel Zócalo Central is exceptional. They greet you by name and consistently make an effort to ensure you feel beyond comfortable, treating you as if you were the only guests. Noisy, noisy, noisy! Imagine coming off a 12 hour flight from Europe and wanting nothing more than to SLEEP! Outside our room the drummers in the square banged incessantly all afternoon and evening toll 10.30 pm. Unbearable

Suddenly overpriced

I have been several times but this time was far too expensive. The restaurant for dinner is now way over my price range. I also learned to get your free deli sandwiches before you check out. They are no longer free after that point. For as much money I have dropped there over the years you would think they could extend that courtesy.
