One of the main reasons I booked a room at the Westover Arms Hotel was because of its “very good” rating on Expedia. We are a family of four with two children under 10, and unfortunately, our experience didn’t live up to the reviews.
When we entered the room, we were immediately overwhelmed by a strong mildew smell. Opening the windows and using air freshener didn’t help. The sleeper sofa for the kids was a sticky leather couch that felt uncomfortable and uninviting. There were no proper blankets—only thin throws that had hair stuck to them, clearly from previous guests.
The room was also quite noisy due to constant street traffic, which made it difficult to rest. On top of that, the room telephone kept lighting up throughout the night for no reason, adding to the disturbance and making it even harder to sleep.
Additionally, there’s no onsite parking; finding a spot in public lots or on the street was a challenge.
Overall, we were not impressed, and this hotel does not deserve its “very good” rating.
