The Freddie Mercury Hotel is a convenient stop in Montreux, almost adjacent to the train station. The staff are quite hospitable, and this building also houses (literally) a Hospitality School. …which is why some things were surprising. Poorly designed room with no/few outlets, weird room layout, no reading lamps, limited toiletries, no area rugs, difficult hotel layout and a very average breakfast made for a less than easy stay. We were in the “best” suite with a view of the lake and mountains and a nice balcony…but little else. The hospitality school could do a study project on this suite as far as layout and conveniences for their guests! But lots of great Freddie Mercury memorabilia and within walking distance to most everything. Montreux is a delightful city otherwise!

Very nice hotel. The hotel is directly accessible from platform 1 of the montruex railway station. The views from the room were also very nice and is located close to the lake.

Very convenient location with just a few minutes walking to the train station via the platform #1. While the rail road is next to the hotel it is surprisingly very quiet inside. Breakfast was somewhat disappointed, tasteless. It was nice that the hotel offered the city pass, that was very convenient for using a public transportation completely free! We would stay there again.

This hotel is very convenient. You exit tge train and walk to the hotel on platform one. Our room was clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the view of the lake and city from the terrace and were the only ones there.!! Breakfast is not included and cost Fr.18 ($22) We chose to walk to the Migro supermarket about 8 minutes down near the lake to get our yogurt and fruit instead. The staff were very friendly and helpful from the minute of our arrival.

Not noted in the hotel description, but the front door literally opens onto platform 1 of the tain station. For those travelling by train this is a major bonus as Montreux is an extremely hilly city. Our room was on the top floor offering a great view off a large patio of Lake Geneva. Very comfy beds. Friendly and helpful staff. Easy walking distance to the waterfront for stores and restaraunts.

Nice staff at a budget stay

Very convenient location right on the train station platform. It was a very small room and sparsely appointed. (No wash cloths, 1/2 roll of toilet paper, etc.) However, we requested a fan, extra pillows, a bowl of ice, and all were promptly provided. Great service! Beautiful rooftop dining area. Would recommend for brief visits. We were there two nights.

Don’t be put off by some reviews, good location

We didn’t read reviews until after booking and so I was a bit apprehensive about the stay. We arrived quite late but fortunately hotel is at the end of Platform 1. Checked in and given a Montreux Travel Card which offer local transport/discounts etc. plenty of Freddie photos downstairs. We were in room 321 our room was large with plenty of storage and a safe. No a/c but a fan but it wasn’t a hot night. Quiet room, bed was memory foam but I slept well. Bathroom was large and a good shower. We didn’t have breakfast as reviews had put me off.

Modern Hotel

Very new! Large rooms were very clean. Check-in awesome. Maria very helpful. Maria had a good knowledge of neighbourhood including restaurants. Very close to train station. Be sure to walk to it along the rail way platform. If you listen to Google, it takes you to the street and then you have to walk up hill.
