Here you have garden furniture and a barbecue area and a sandpit and a playground for your children. Moormerland is located in the city triangle of Emden, Leer and Aurich. The Fehnlandschaft Moormerlands is characterized by canals, Wieken and the Fehn-typical bascule bridges. Signposted cycling and hiking trails amidst a great natural landscape want to be explored on foot, by bike or by boat. A tourist highlight is the Ems barrier in Gandersum. Here you can experience the latest technology. Cruise ships of the Meyer shipyard get over the Ems barrage in the big wide world. Culturally Moormerland has a lot to offer, eg. Such as the Museum Alte Seilerei, the lock, the pumping station and the Old Libra in Oldersum, the Gallerieholländerwindmühlen in Neermoor and Warsingsfehn, the Museum Hueitens Huus and numerous churches and historic cemeteries. Event highlights in Moormerland: every two years in May the Schollentage, the Hatshauser Feuerwehrfest on the second weekend in July, on the last weekend of July the Moormerländer Weinfest, the Oldersumer Herbst with Krimilesung, Michaelismarkt and Apple Festival annually on the third weekend in September, in December some villages different Christmas markets, with a special flair, instead.
