The rooms are beautiful and spacious and comfy. The staff is exemplary. The hot tub sauna scene is awesome, the lounging areas are amazing. The shared spaces are stunning. But this hotel has a ways to go to be truly worth the money. The food is only so-so. I had a vegetarian dish that was flat out not good (the nut steak) although our waiter Alex was AMAZING. And dinner was $$$. My husband’s fish was only so-so also. You need a much better chef or lower prices. I expected one of the best meals of my life and was very disappointed. We had cheese sandwiches from along the road the other two nights rather than waste our money at the restaurant! In the rooms work is needed as well. The temperature control is unworkable, the light switches are literally impossible to figure out, there are NO hooks for anything, and there is no refrigerator! For THAT PRICE?!?!? I loved this hotel and I was very disappointed by a few key things. And we stayed 3 nights. It was a LOT of money. I expected an exemplary experience, which is completely within reach. Especially with such amazing amazing staff.

Not worth the money

Wir hätten mehr für rund 610 CHF pro Nacht erwartet und da war nicht mal Frühstück dabei! Es begann schon mit dem Check-in, der sehr umständlich war. Dann bekamen wir ein kleines Zimmer im Erdgeschoss neben der Küche. Wegen der Lüftung konnte man die Fenster nicht aufmachen und es war laut. Das Alternative Zimmer war mit Blick auf den Parkplatz, so blieben wir im Zimmer mit Einem schmalen Blick ins Grüne. Das kleine Wellness Angebot, Hotpot und Sauna, war überfüllt. Einzig das Bar Personal war freundlich und hilfsbereit. Die Lage ist gut, aber da es neblig war sahen wir nicht viel von de Landschaft. Preis Leistung hat für uns nicht gepasst. Würde diese Unterkunft nicht mehr wählen

Views from large outdoor hot tubs - sauna-cold plunge pond were magnificent! It’s worth staying there just for that reason alone and the breakfast buffet was the best! Bigger hotel than it looked online and got slammed at checkin time. Restaurant reservation system was down but it was also booked. Bar menu was only option which was ok but not ideal. Otherwise to dine we’d have to drive as hotel is fairly remote from towns. We did enjoy our stay and rooms were clean, comfortable and quiet.

Beautiful views of the glacier, very nice spacious room (we got the corner suite) which was able to easily accommodate a roll out bed. bathroom with bathtub and separate shower. Outdoor sauna and hot tub with an amazing pond completed the features. A very nice restaurant and a well furnished bar were the cherry on the pie.

Hotel Jökulsárlón is one of the best hotels I’ve been to! The property and the staff are lovely, the location is spectacular (you have a breathtaking view of the glacier!), the restaurant was fantastic (especially the breakfast buffet). We enjoyed every moment of our stay & will absolutely be back.

We were really looking forward to our stay.The views were amazing. The food at the restaurant was not so good and the bartender was unfriendly. Our room had a terrible odor and no one seemed to care.
