We are located in the Celio district, one of the historic neighborhoods of central Rome.

It sits between the Basilica of San Giovanni in Laterano and the Colosseum, placing it in one of the most fascinating and historically rich parts of the city.

This area borders the San Giovanni and Colosseo zones — quiet and residential yet just steps from world-famous monuments.



Celio (Rione XIX) is one of the oldest of Rome’s traditional rioni, officially established in 1921 but with roots that stretch back to Ancient Rome.



The area is layered with history: ancient ruins, early Christian churches, medieval houses, and Baroque buildings coexist in a compact, walkable neighborhood.



It’s home to major religious and cultural landmarks such as the Basilica di San Giovanni in Laterano, San Clemente, and the Holy Stairs (Scala Santa).



The overall vibe is elegant, historical, and slightly quieter than the nearby tourist hubs, while still lively and cosmopolitan.



Getting Around:

The area is exceptionally well-connected despite being part of the historic center, where car access is often restricted. We are outside of ZTL (limited traffic zone), so we are also reachable by car.



Buses:

The following lines run along or very close to Via di San Giovanni in Laterano:

85, 87, 117, 81, and 571.



Line 85 connects the Celio directly to Termini Station (Rome’s main rail hub) and Piazza Venezia.



Line 87 runs toward Piazza Navona and Campo de’ Fiori — ideal for reaching the city center’s shopping and dining areas.



Line 117 is a small electric bus (eco-friendly) that goes through narrow historical streets between San Giovanni and Piazza del Popolo.



Tram:

While no tram passes directly through Celio, the Tram 3 line runs nearby (stop “Colosseo”), connecting Trastevere, Testaccio, Aventino, and Villa Borghese — a very scenic route across central Rome.



Metro:



Colosseo Station (Line B) — about 7–8 minutes’ walk from Via di San Giovanni in Laterano. This line runs north to Termini, Tiburtina Station, and EUR (the business district).



San Giovanni Station (Line A) — roughly 10–12 minutes’ walk or a short bus ride. Line A takes you to Piazza di Spagna, Vatican City (Ottaviano stop), and Cinecittà.
