Beautiful Hotel and conveniently placed downtown where most destinations are walkable or accessible to a trolley, bus, train, etc. I would rate 5 stars but downsized to four because of the noise and some amenities of the room. Some of the rooms, such as mine on the 3rd floor were poorly insulated and you can hear noise very loudly. In my case, I was awoken at 4am but what sounded like persistent knocking coming from above me but was perhaps several loads of bedding being washed in an uneven washer. Also to add, my phone was extremely dusty, a few of the outlets did not work and one of the light switches didn’t do anything at all. I recommend the location for its convenience to the sea and food but recommend a definite upgrade to some of the structure of its rooms and electrical circuits.

The person at the desk didn’t greet us or introduce himself during check in. He didn’t seem to be welcoming. The room was very tiny. Overall, the stay was nothing special. I wouldn’t come back.

The property is super convenient to all the downtown activities and lots of restaurants. Give it five stars. I think it's ridiculous that they charge an amenities fee each day even if you don't use the amenities. That should be an option. One star.

I was so disappointed after reading prior reviews. The rooms are tiny and the carpets are not clean. The beds were not comfortable and the furniture was worn. The shower had low water pressure and was either boiling hot or freezing. The staff was kind but the hotel was not clean.

They forgot to clean my room the first day. I felt a little unsafe walking at night by myself as lots of people on drugs handing around. My room was on the second floor a few doors down from a meeting room they rent out. An event started at 6am and yelling, laughing for everyone to hear on that floor. The hotel is run down and needs a complete remodel. Dark and dingy halls. There was a loud tapping sound in the walls that kept me awake all night and kind of sounded like the water pipes.

Good Service

This is a nicely updated historic hotel in the heart of San Diego. Unfortunately, the updates could not do anything about the thin walls that are commonplace in older buildings. First night we were kept awake by the folks in the next room until the wee hours. Fortunately, front desk was super responsive, moving us to an upgraded corner suite for the remainder of our trip and waiving the convenience fee for our troubles. It was a bummer to have a lousy night's sleep, but was impressed with how the staff handled the issue.
