Within minutes of checking in, it was clear the property did not match the written description. The interior was very dated and worn, and the outdoor pool area was not clean — there were cobwebs and leaves throughout the lanai. The “greenspace” described as a relaxing option for a non-beach day was covered in old leaves, branches, and debris. The fenced-in area advertised for a dog was also broken and had visible gaps, making it unusable and unsafe.When we contacted the host immediately, she initially said she would be happy to issue a refund. After we secured another place on very short notice, she reversed course and told us we needed to work directly with VRBO. We then spent a significant amount of time going back and forth between the host and VRBO. During that process, the host called and yelled at us about leaving a bad review — even though we had not yet been given the opportunity to submit one.Eventually, we were notified that a refund would be issued, and it was posted to our credit card. The following day, VRBO rescinded the refund!Overall, this was a very frustrating and disappointing experience, and not what we expected based on the listing description. Be very cautious when booking via VRBO - this experience was highly concerning.
