Great location

This is the best-looking property on the street. The wrought iron railings on the first floor and second floor balcony are nicely done. Our second floor room had a large armoire, a small bathroom (that needs updating), a desk and chair, and a comfortable bed. The breakfast room was bright and cheery. The breakfast included a variety of cereals, breads, fresh fruit and coffee/tea. It’s in a great location, within walking distance of the Opera House and the wharf, and close to a tram station. They have a pretty strict policy about late arrivals, and their idea of late seemed pretty early to me. Fortunately I had phoned ahead to inform them that my train wouldn’t arrive until after 8PM, so they were able to accommodate my late arrival without charging me (the very high) late arrival fee. The free wifi advertised was actually limited ( that seems to be an Australian thing, free wifi means you get about 15 minutes a day), but the rate for unlimited use was reasonable. Overall, it was a good experience. This review is moot, though, because the hotel is due for a major renovation. 22 rooms will become 15, so I assume the price will rise accordingly.

Lovely little place

Had a wonderful weekend here with my daughter. Staff were lovely and very helpful. Hotel is in a great location. Rooms were a little dated but clean. They are renovating soon and I hope they can keep the wonderful feel of the place.

Albert and Victoria Court is very central to our needs while staying in Sydney and easily accessed. The staff were very helpful and welcoming and being able to have a bite of breakfast before starting our day is great.

Good value and friendly staff

As a place to stay in relative downtown Sydney it was very good value. The hotel staff were very friendly and accommodating. If you are wanting a luxury hotel in Sydney, likely not the one for you, but if you are wanting a decent place to stay close to the heart of things, this is a good option.

Nice accommodation, great location, friendly staff

This guesthouse is in a nice street in Potts Point and well located. It is actually closing for 12 months for a major refurbishment. The staff are friendly and most helpful.

Family visit

My recent stay at Albert & Victoria Court was very good and well worthy of praise to the management and staff. Central to the city with good public transport and most things in easy walking distance. The hotel building is charming as it is but a substantive renovation (12 months) is planned this year that will maintain the atmosphere while providing modern facilities for guests. I will certainly stay again when they reopen.

A rainy night in Sydney

This a charming hotel, the general décor is impressive. There are better and more expensive rooms than the one I had which was looking a little tired. Unfortunately the mattress on my bed was well and truly past it's use by date, not a spring left in it, the pillows weren't much better. What I found really annoying was hairs on the blanket, not mine, yuk! Parking on site was convenient but man-handling the locked gates in the rain wasn't. Breakfast was good, lots of choices in a delightful area but the soggy courtyard needs a solution.

Good location,

Photographed better than its condition, tidy but old and tired, continental breakfast was excellent, staff were excellent, internet was crap, shower box was old, taps were always falling off, bathroom was cramped to say the least. TV was completely limited.

I wouldn't not stay there again

Stayed for one night. Room was on the first floor facing the street, so got some street noise. Not really a problem for me, but just an FYI. Also, entry was right there, so as guests walked in and out, you could hear the door open and close. Room was OK. Bathroom was small but usable. It is a boutique type of hotel. Breakfast is pretty simple, just toast, jams, fruits and drinks. Area was alright. Just know that access to the CBD is limited later in the evening as the gates to the botanical gardens close so you need to walk around. I wouldn't not stay there again, but would look for something else first.

A trip down memory lane

We weren't disappointed. It certainly was old fashioned but that suited us as we had come form a 5 star hotel the night before. Staff were excellent and yet I sensed they were embarrassed that their hotel didn't quite measure up to 2015 expectations. It was lovely and quaint and we enjoyed our visit. The heritage building was in great condition and Victoria Street is one of Sydney's best kept secrets.

Hotel location was excellent. Lots to do,

Hotel was in the Kings Cross area. Also near Potts Point. Two trendy areas. Large variety of great restaurants. In walking distance of most areas of Sydney.

Quaint and comfortable

I loved this beautiful little hotel. It has a really charming feel, friendly staff and it seems to have a personality that most hotels lack. It doesn't fit the cookie-cutter mould. I'm already planning a trip back to sydney so I can stay in this place longer!

recommend Albert

The hotel is in a very lively neighborhood and very close to the Kings Cross subway station. The staff were very helpful and the continental breakfast was adequate for our tastes. Since it is an old mansion, the room was small but it was comfortable and clean. Recommend the hotel but they are about to do a major rehab and will be closed for sometime.

we have stayed many times and have always had a very nice stay, great staff , nice breakfast , etc. this time everything was very good except for the room - very small , no towel racks at sink, poor lighting, no room for luggage.

Very nice stay, the staff was great!

I've had a nice stay, the staff were always helpful and very friendly. After my checkout (1030AM) I was granted to leave my suitcase in their facilities until my flight which was only at 8PM that day. An airport shuttle can also be booked from the hotel for 22$ as well as day tours to Blue Mountain. Breakfast was included, however there are lots of little restaurants along the street and one street over. It's a 15-20 min walk to the botanical gardens and the harbor and about a 10-15$ cab ride for those who don't wish to walk. Glider is very nice for a healthy breakfast, which is a 2 minute walk up the street (their smoothies are amazing! - went back everyday for one) Ms Gs is a very nice restaurant/bar which is also a short walk from the hotel.

Pleasant Potts Point hotel

Victorian style building and furnishings on a pretty tree-lined street, walking distance to royal botanical gardens, harbor, and shopping at Queen Victoria Building and surrounding area. Rooms are pleasant. Bathroom needs repairs and a good cleaning (mold around the fixtures, towel rack removed (apparently broke and not replaced), dust on ceiling & vent). Minimal towels & cups provided. Wi-Fi doesn't work. Breakfast includes instant coffee/latte machine, juices, cereals, breads, eggs, cheese, fresh fruit. No smoking building, but smokers all around outside of building. Cafes and night clubs nearby.
