They put us up in a room that smelled badly of cigarette smoke, even though their entire facility was no smoking. Initially, no bath towels were provided. The entire building and rooms need to be redone.

The Red Roof Inn in Benton Harbor- St Joseph was unsafe, very bad maintained and dirty. We made the reservation through Travelocity and when we checked in, all I had to do was give my name to the person at the front desk. They did not ask for an ID or anything. We had to go to drive around to the second building and there was lots of garbage on the outside and on the stairs and outside corridor to get to our room. The room door did not have the inside safety lock. There were handprints on the walls and headboard. The wall to the bathroom had indentations where you can see they had been parched up from a hole but it was not done correctly. In the bathroom, there was no soap/shampoo in the dispenser, nor were any towels provided. We couldn't find another room at a different hotel for that night so we stayed, but I will never stay at another Red Roof Inn again.

The property is very rundown, dirty, and unsafe. The inside security lock on the door was missing. The shower curtains where filthy, there was no soap/shampoo in the dispenser, and no towels were provided. There were holes in the walls and handprints on the walls and head board. I'm never staying in another Red Roof again.

Check you room first! The first room I was given had a dirty bathroom, including a wet wash cloth in the soap holder. Completely unacceptable. The second room was unsafe- a used wash cloth was on the ground in front of the door, which was already propped open! I went back to the front desk to inform they still didn't have it right. I was finally given an accessible room. It was clean enough, though I don't think the floors had been mopped all summer. The bed was like cardboard.There's a Walmart across the parking lot in case you may want to purchase cleaning or other items to compliment your stay.

The bathroom was the worst I had ever seen in a hotel room in my entire life!!!!!!!!!! And we are world travelers who have just returned from Europe. The toilet was as full of feces as you can imagine. The toilet was also broken and a dirty wash rag was in it. The new management was apologetic and had to move us to a new room, but it lacked Kleenex, any cups at all, and any“””blankets. The new management said if we requested any kind of refund, which we are, he would honor it. This was the worst hotel experience ever!!!!!!!!!!

The rooms either had an overwhelming smoke or musty smell. We tried two rooms and rejected each one for requesting a refund ( which we were given). The new owners had just taken over the property on the day we were there and they have lots of work to do.

Horrible hotel

This hotel is beyond anything I’ve ever seen. There was no light above the vanity. It was missing. The bed sheets had cigarette burns on them. The floor was so sticky. Who knows what was on there. Walls so dirty. No towels, toilet paper or anything. The bathroom needed serious remodeling. Tiles were coming off. Holes in the walls. I could go on and on about this horrible and nasty hotel. It should just be demolished, that’s how bad it is

The building is in serious disrepair and dirty. The rooms are filthy. We were in two of them and both were filthy. Dirty sheets on the bed. Red Roof used to be a great stay, but obviously that's a thing of the past. Never again!

One star, nothing more. Dirty run down room with a cigarette burn comforter, a main light that didn't work, and perhaps mold on the celling. Nice front desk person but offered no solutions. Said they just bought property, well i suggest shutting down til its remodeled but id say tear down and rebuild its that bad!

Arrived from driving three hours away and had to wait two hours in lobby while front desk had to resolve check in issue. While sitting in lobby every single guest was quoted different room prices. A couple came in to get a room and their other friend pulls down her pants and starts peeing right infront of the front door. Man on our balcony was in his underwear smoking pot, another man rolling around on the ground in entrance to upstairs balcony on what I’m assuming heroin or another hard drug. Super unsafe place for families and small children. Toilet barely flushed, floor was disgusting, moldings around tub all cracked and moldy, mirrors dirty, pillow case had huge stain on it, fridge looked like it was pulled out of trash dump and room smelled like cigarettes. Never again in my life would I ever stay at a red roof! Staying in that room made my skin crawl. Owner which I’m assuming, did nothing to help his employee with anything he just stood next to her taking personal phone calls loudly all while she was trying to take care of my check in, other guests, and the hotel phone. Very unprofessional.

We checked in and left immediately. The room smelled like mold, and all the furniture and room was dirty. Honestly the check in girl had amazing customer service skills, other chains should hire her. She was well mannered and composed for the place she's working at. The pictures are definitely fake, and complete false advertising.
