Not the best downtown hotel I have stayed at. It appears perhaps homeless people or displaced people are staying on several floors. I did not feel very comfortable nor safe. My floor the 4th floor was clean and up to date. Elevator was a bit sketchy. Free breakfast was a nice offering. Parking was only $20 which was reasonable.

It was easy to get to Progressive Field. But other then that it was dirty, our key cards would only work once in a while, unsafe area, sink was clogged and no one fixed it

Playhouse Square Hotel

Great location in Playhouse Square and Cleveland State University area downtown. Three miles from Cleveland Clinic. Hotel is easy to find. Reasonably priced. Parking adjacent. Staff is always pleasant and helpful. Large lobby with a coffee bar and breakfast. Hotel is very old and rooms have never been remodeled. Carpet with stains. Dark paint on walls. Bathrooms need remodeled. Odor inside that comes from the outside heating & a/c equipment, I'm guessing. But, beds are comfortable and there is a refrigerator and microwave. Ice machine on the floor doesn't work. Coffee machine in lobby doesn't work. Owner really needs to spend some money on improvements. But, it's okay for a one-night accommodation.

Saves money

It’s a long walk to the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame, but we still did it to save money. Parking in the downtown area is high except it was reasonable here. For a comparatively lower price to still be in downtown Cleveland this place is a really good option. It’s older and no shuttle or restaurant but breakfast was good.

Hotel was okay. Wendell at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. He even gave us directions to Edgewater Park which was fantastic. He also shared with us what was going on at Playhouse theater the first night. Unfortunately we didn't see him anymore during our stay. The property was very old and in need of a makeover. The elevator was very scary. The whole property had a smell. Had a double bedroom. One bed had food ( hoping it wasn't something else) under the mattress pad and also food under the table and bed. The water was hot but lacked in pressure. The bathroom itself was so small. The AC got stuffy quickly when it cut off. Breakfast was okay but the same thing each day. Unfortunately I had to clean before I felt comfortable. The parking was convenient but it should have been free for guests. Anyone can park there for a fee so it's not like they weren't making money. Took several times every time for the key card to work. We had to get it reactivated. Location was great and we felt safe. Restaurants within walking distance. I don't know if I would stay there again.

A Place to Rest Your Head

We went for a convention and this hotel was close enough we could walk back and forth. It was okay. Not awesome, not terrible. It definitely needs a glow up and you pay $14 a night for parking, which the don’t tell you up front. The only issue we really had were the elevators. They were extremely old and sometimes would stop mid floor. We were supposed to go down to the lobby and it went down, stopped for a minute (doors did not open), and then went up to the top floor. I didn’t really feel safe.
