This is the second time I have stayed at the Academy Hotel. After this weekend’s stay, I will not be returning. When we arrived and got our room assignment, I knew things were not going to be great upon entering the room. The room had a stale, mildew smell, the carpet had nasty stains on it, the window shade only opened 1/2 way, the lights did not turn on with a switch and the tv would not work. We let the front desk know about the shade and tv and left for dinner. When we returned, the tv was in working order, but as we began to unwind, we heard noise on the other side of the wall—first, a loud banging noise that rattled the walls followed by a squeal/honking noise from the pipes. I went out of our room and discovered the public bathrooms were on the other side. Every time someone turned on the water or flushed the toilet we experienced this noise. I finally went to the front desk and asked for another room only to be told there were no rooms available. I was woken up at 1:45 am from this loud rattling and honking noise from the pipes. Essentially, we had to pay the same rate as everyone else for a low budget motel room that was dirty, noisy and unacceptable. The Academy Hotel has lost our trust and our business.
