Avoid This Hotel – Hygiene, Food Safety & Integrity Completely Failed
I have stayed at many Sofitel properties worldwide, but this was by far the worst experience I have ever had with the brand.
We were checked into a room that was visibly dirty: heavy dust everywhere, broken fixtures, clearly not cleaned before arrival. Photos and videos show the exact condition in which the room was handed over.
On the first night, shortly after arrival, I ordered a Wagyu burger via room service. It was served incorrectly and caused severe gastrointestinal illness (including diarrhea) — an alarming food safety failure for a supposed five-star hotel.
The night manager personally came to the room, visibly distressed, and said verbatim:
“Madam, if I would be in your shoes, I would turn the hotel upside down.”
We were explicitly promised that the meal causing the illness and all food & beverage from the first night would not be charged. At checkout, the hotel still charged us — and management later denied that this promise was ever made, effectively implying we were lying.
This is not a one-off mistake. It is a pattern of:
• poor hygiene,
• unsafe food handling,
• broken promises,
• and zero accountability.
Think twice before booking. There are far better options at this price point.
