    3 day vacation

    Spent 3 days exploring old Edinburgh. The apartment was centralized to walk everywhere. Arthur's seat with an hour.The Castle within 10 minutes Princess street in 20 minutes Only downside was being adjacent to the clubing district down cowgate means alot of noise at 2am. Overall a great spot!

    Lovely old place!

    This is a great place to stay to visit Old Edinburgh. I love quirky old places right in the heart of historic areas. The place is old so don’t expect a big modern house. It was a bit noisy at night but we had earplugs. It was clean, convenient, and comfortable. Loved it!

    Great Experience in the Heart of Edinburgh

    Gavin was a great host. Communication was very good. The location of the condo is right in the historic area of the city. We felt very safe and were in awe of the buildings, pubs, stores, coffee shops and walkabity of everything. Just a heads up that there are 33 narrow, spiral stairs up to the unit so accessibility could be an issue for some people. We would highly recommend this place.

    Location was great the rest not

    The listing when booked said first floor flat. It’s the first floor of flats but it sets above two restaurants the tend to burn food. And a wild spiral staircase. Being from the US first floor is the ground floor we now know things. While the beds were thin mattresses they were reasonably comfortable but the sheets were musty and there were no zipper mattresses covers. There was dust everywhere and some of the dishes were put away in the cupboard dirty. There is chipped paint and cracking everywhere. The windows are cracked in almost every window within the unit. A solid deep clean everything, some minimal Extra items for hygiene like zippered covers on mattresses and pillows and some patching and a solid coat of paint would do this place wonders. Not sure if you can replace glass easily in Scotland like you can on the US but being able to open windows when the fumes from downstairs creep up would be ideal. The location, is spot on, the owners are very informative about the local area. I just think they may want to reconsider their cleaning company. Would stay here again as the price was affordable and the location superb which is why this is rated a 3. It had its quirks but there is always a balance. We did a quick clean and enjoy’d the rest of the week.

    Great Location!

    This property was in a great location for exploring Old Town Edinburgh. It is right in the heart of shops, dining, pubs, and historical sites. My only caution would be that, because of several pubs nearby, the street noise is a bit louder late into the evening. We traveled in the off season, but during busy times I can imagine that it could be much louder and more raucous outside.

    Lovely apartment in a fantastic location. Brand new bathroom which was lovely although property quite dusty (maybe due to bathroom being finished the day before?). Very central and easy to get to places on foot as long as you don’t mind a hill or two! Would definitely recommend.

    Really disappointed

    Really disappointed by our stay here. The location is great and the kitchen looks new but everything is done to a poor standard making everything feel dirty (new stone worktops and splashbacks) - but the walls didnt look like theyd been painted and there was a clear accumulation of dust on top. Definitely the worst place weve booked on vbro. Bathroom is the worst bit but none of i is particularly well finished; black mould around the shower sealant, together with a bathroom sink that took an age to drain and dusty / dirty skirting boards.There were faults everywhere from the burn mark on the carpet, the missing theshold strip, the mouldy gas pipe, the doors that didnt close properly etc. The lounge seemed nice and looks like its been refurbished but the corner the sofas meet in, has a think layer of dust and wasnt clean.We made the most of it and the location was great, but won be going back or recommending.

    The location is incredibly well placed and Gavin gave all the informations needed, the price is very good, the appartment is a bit noisy and some things like the bathroom were just a bit unclean but nothing that bad tho. Overall a very good deal !

    Die Wohnung ist wunderschön. Das Einzige, das mich gestört hat, war, dass das unterhalb der Wohnung liegende Restaurant sehr laut bei der Müllentsorgung war. Ich würde aber jederzeit wiederkommen.

    Amazing stay in Edinburgh--Would love to stay here again!

    Had a great time here for our stay in Edinburgh. This is a fun and lively area. The home was clean, cozy, and had everything we needed. Two very comfortable beds and a clothes washer and dryer are a big plus. I do think folks should be aware the unit is up a flight of stairs on a spiral staircase, so be prepared to carry any luggage or bags when you arrive and depart. This wasn't a problem for us at all though. I would love to stay here again if we ever go back!

    Fantastic location in Old Town

    This was the perfect place to stay with an adult family member who had never been to Edinburgh before. It is one block off the Royal Mile and nearest to Edinburgh Castle. The flat is roomy, clean and modernized. The primary bedroom is especially nice. The kitchen is well stocked with dishes, flat wear, etc. The spiral stairs leading up to the flat are tight. Hauling luggage up and down was a challenge. The bathroom door didn’t lock and the door to the 2nd bedroom didn’t close all the way. The flat was stuffy. Weather was in the 60sF during the day and 50sF at night and we were only able to get one window, in the primary bedroom, to open. There was an only a single small fan available to help. If you are a light sleeper you should be aware that this is a central location, overlooking a plaza with multiple outdoor pubs and restaurants, and therefore is noisy at night. But despite theses issues, which one should expect in an old building right off the Mile, we would definitely stay here again.

    Horrible place, 33 steps up the spiral “death stairs”

    The description of this apartment is completely false. It is not “beautifully upgraded” — it is dingy and dirty. It is not on the “first floor” — it is on the third floor (by US description) or second floor for UK speakers. Access is by a narrow, scary, steep spiral staircase. Refrigerator is a mini-fridge. Toilet is up a step on a separate platform. Main bed is so low to ground one can’t stand up from it. Second bed is on cheap frame that collapses with any movement. Apartment smelled and was dirty. Towels were scratchy and thin. Apartment overlooks mega-popular tourist square full of loud drunken revelers until 4 am, making it impossible to sleep. We had to leave after one night because two members of our party of four are old and mobility impaired (walker, cane). Owner has long known of these issues, but has not fixed description or cleaned up the place. We have asked for a refund. Still waiting to hear. Please read all the terrible reviews — we wish we had. We would never have booked this apartment if we had had an accurate description.

    This is great and fully functional apartment right in the heart of the city. It is close to all the tourist attractions and had everything we needed to spend a comfortable few days there. It did get a little loud at the weekend due to the proximity to the center but the room at the back quiet and we knew that going in due to the great location. We will definitely look to book again next time we come to edinburgh.

    Comfortable stay. We had plumbing issues that the owner communicated well to help resolve. Note that "first floor" is up narrow, circular stairs (~2 flights). We were surprised and not thrilled about hauling large suitcases up & down it. Overall, comfortable beds & plenty of space for our party of 3. It was great to walk out and be in the heart of Old Town!

    Great location to take in the sights but needs a deep clean !

    Location was great but the apartment was very dusty and dirty. Every glass had lip stick marks and piece of silverware had food on it. The kitchen counter was dusty. The door to the apartment should be replaced along with the locks that took two people and much finessing to open. If they could iron out a few wrinkles in this property the location is fabulous ! And a heads up for those not familiar with Edinburgh you will be dragging your luggage up and down cobblestone hills and stairways - Lots ! Make sure you’re physically prepared or just get a taxi to exact location.
