Ideal for single adult travellers

I'm a regular visitor to Hamburg, where i meet friends. I just wanted a small single room for a cheap price. I really got my moneys worth, nice large comfy room (have stopped in much smaller double rooms), bathroom with nice shower that wasn't cramped. It was a blessing as whilst i was in Hamburg the temperature rose to 35 degrees and the room was cool and comfortable throughout. Entrance to the hotel is via a lift which takes you to the 2nd floor were there was an English speaking receptionist. The location of the hotel is literally a 5 min walk direct down one street to Holstensraße S-Bahn. It is a suberb type area but had no issues walking round at night alone and there areca few little convenience stores close by if required. Overall happy, no frills but certainly no let down!

Simple - good for working stay

The hotel is clean and efficient. The breakfast (not included in normal price) is tasty and has a lot of options I would recommend the hotel, if you just have things to do in Hamburg - and not, if you want to hang out a lot at the hotel.

Hotel itself is fine, but area around is scruffy.

Location is about 10-15 min walk from nearest S-Bahn station, Holstenstrasse. The area is not well served by eating places, although the hotel does try to help. Hotel position means most rooms face on to an inner courtyard / garden, which means they are quiet. The room was fine, plenty of room, comfortable beds, Wi-Fi worked well (and is free), and bathroom / shower were good. Breakfast was expensive, but there are few options in the area, if looking for alternatives. Quality of food was good, although the scrambled egg had dried out. Staff were polite and helpful.

Good value for the money. The room is not very big but is clean, the staff is friendly, solving quickly the problems. Close to metro station, you can get very easy everywhere in town. The only downside is that the internet connection is not very good in every room.

after traveling for 2 weeks through France and many long train rides. We were stopped in Hamburg for unfortunalty only 1 night. But this place far exceded our expectations for the room, breakfast and staff. Everything was wonderful better than all the others. Had a little trouble getting a cab.

Lovely room with big window looking on to lawn! And a smoking room that wasn't the dregs of the hotel. The staff were more than helpful with recommendations for local designers and craftspeople - and easy directions to get to container port I wanted to see. A pleasure to stay there.

nice little hotel

Overall i really liked this hotel. It was warm and clean which are the main requirements i find. The staff were all really helpful. I didnt eat breakfast there or use anything in the hotel so i cant really comment on the amenities. The wifi was good though and came in very useful. I found it to be a little far out for my personal liking. Its about a 10 min walk from the nearest s bahn but you have to change to get into the centre i.e. town square. This is just my preference though. The perk to being a little further out is that the rooms are really quiet so you will get a great nights sleep. Its fairly easy to find because the yellow lift is quite bright and big so you can see it from across the junction. There is a supermarket by the train station which is handy. The area isnt that great but as a lone female i felt fine walking around at night. The main thing is i would stay here again if ever in hamburg. When you come down the stairs from the s bahn turn to the exit right then go left down the street for a few junctions and you will see the deutsche post and yellow lift from the street.

Quietly comfortable.

Possibly the quietest hotel I have ever stayed in. I had a single business room which was compact but very comfortable, with a very good shower. You can even change the language on Sky Sports and Movies to English! Charming and helpful reception staff. Okay, so it's not in the most salubrious part of town, but the centre is only two or three stops away on the tube and the station is easily walkable from the hotel. I had no safety worries when walking back, even very late at night. A comfortable budget hotel.

Convenient Location

Stayed 2 nights, quick check in and out. Great staff, knowledgeable and informative. Clean comfy room, ideal for single traveller like myself. 5 mins from Holstenstrasse tube to Hotel. Strange entrance, not the best surroundings but never felt threatened regardless of what time I made it back in. Would definiteley recoate mend and if in Hamburg would not hesitat anye to book again. 10 mins on tube to central station where its easy to get a connection to any place you wish. Bonus was having flat screen tv and sky with it, not many hotels have that. Decent bathroom and good shower.

Clean and value for money.

A comfortable, clean hotel at a very reasonable rate. Only downside are the rundown nature of the area between the hotel and the S-Bahn station and the slightly odd access to the hotel via a lift. I suspect some people might find this entrance area a bit intimidatory in the dark.

Gave us 2 single rooms instead of 1 double

One double room booking on hotels.com showed up as two single room reservations on their system and they gave two single rooms for me and my husband. The rooms were very small and there was no way we could have accommodated ourselves in one single room. They did not have any spare double rooms, so could not switch rooms. But if it were a double room, the hotel is a good average 3 star hotel with all amenities, cleanliness, and location.

Basic and does the job.

If 1st appearances counted Ghotel would be in trouble. I can see why they use a picture of the quad inside the hotel grounds to advertise themselves (greenery)! It looks like an old office block from the outside and doesnt have what I would call a traditional entrance - the entrance is an elevator door with some instructions plastered around it (helpful instructions though). The lift entrance made me think Tardus!! Its next to a Post Office building and seems somehow connected, as the mirrors in the bathroom have German Post Office decals. Reception is functional and the staff are polite enough. The interior is clean and tidy. The room is very small and narrow, around the size of a Stena Ferry Cabin. Large shower+++ and very good water pressure. Towels are the smallest I have ever come across. The room is otherwise clean,tidy and warm. Bed was comfy too. I felt that the room would have benefitted from a tea/coffee set...! Although there was a vending machine providing various hot and cold drinks for a fee. Breakfast was typically German, not bad but not to my taste. Various cereals and then cold meats and cheeses etc! Booking out was almost very emotional as the reception staff abruptly informed me that I had breakfast and had to pay a whopping 12euros OUCH! Although this was resolved very quickly and an apology given when I pointed out I had already paid on booking! Basic and does the job in my opinion! Would stay here again but would look for alternatives 1st!

The hotel is accessed via a lift, its a bit like Dr Who's Tardis. The area is a bit Commercial, one where you keep an watchful eye, but we had no troubles. The hotel is a bit strange with its layout, but once your in your room, its great, quite impressive. We went to the Bleu Blume restaurant for a meal, very nice and reasonably priced, when we went to pay, they would not accept any of my English or French debit or credit cards, as none had EC on the back, so I had to walk all the way back to the hotel and pick up the car, then go and find an ATM machine to draw money out at the main station.

this hotel is located away from the city center of Hamburg, but for budget purpose, it exceeded my expectation. Room was clean, with a flat-screen LCD, and friendly staffs. Free internet available in the lobby. Free parking. 3-star hotels in Germany are of superb quality, very clean, and well-maintained, impressive!

It was very enjoyable and good. But i would only recommend to have internet facility in rooms included in the tariff. Also, generally in hotels of big cities, breakfast is not separately charged.
