Experienced loud, incessant stomping sounds from room above due to creaky floors and possibly irate tenants. Hotel nice enough to upgrade us to new room on our last night. Unfortunately during that evening, a junkie set off the entire hotel emergency alarm at 4am. Not a great experience.

For $170 you'd think you would get a tap to fill a glass with a drink of water. Maybe a water bottle in the fridge could help. Shower head leaks like crazy, no pressure in the shower. Other than those, good spot in the city for a night to sleep

The room was small with no outside window but it reflects the budget price we paid. We were only staying one night because we needed to catch an early morning interstate train. The room was perfectly clean with tea/coffee making facilities. A small problem we had was the door to the bathroom/toilet was a barn-style door hanging from a rail. There was no method to lock it and it would slowly open to about halfway unless you held it closed with your hand. Perhaps some sort of lock could be installed. This may only have affected our room only so not a biggie; just something to be aware of. Where it wins big time is it's almost diagonally opposite Southern Cross Station so only takes 5 minutes to walk there with luggage. "Location, location, location" as they say. It is on the edge of the main shopping precinct of Melbourne so a bit of a distance if walking but Melbourne has a free tram service so only a 10 minute tram ride to the GPO if shopping is your main focus.
