My husband and I stayed at the penguin one night. We had our room upgraded to the top floor with the balcony. It was absolutely stunning to have the entire balcony to ourselves room 401. The only downside is the elevator doesn't go all the way up to the 4th floor so you will have to carry your luggage up a flight of stairs. if you're Able-Bodied it's not an issue. The hotel itself is old and I did see areas like the bathtub that had the landlord special. Painting over visible issues. The elevator was a little loud but honestly the balcony with the view was worth it for the price. Staying here for a small amount of time was great. Breakfast in the morning was great. The pool was nice and the beach is beautiful. Surprisingly quiet for the busy location. My husband and I would love to stay here again. Thank you to staff for making our trip welcoming and memorable. Great job!

We stayed in a king room on the 4th floor with a patio. I believe it’s the only room on the 4th floor. In dire need of an update/reno. Drapes and blinds need to be replaced. Molding needs to be dusted. Sliding door lock needs to be replaced. Bathroom is very very small. Plants on patios could use some TLC. Everything needs an update. You could hear the elevator from the room and all noises from it operating. Breakfast is provided by the restaurant next door which came to us cold so appears they are preserved on a plate and provided when the hotel guests arrive. No options. Just whatever they serve you on that plate. Only pro was location.

One of the cleanest hotels I have stayed in. Comfortable beds. Surrounded by food options and restaurants if you don't have a car. Directly across the street from the beach. Very friendly front desk staff. Would absolutely stay here again.

The complimentary breakfast at the front porch was horrible. We received the worse meal i have ever eaten. Besides being treated like we were nonexistant after being seated once the server knew that we had a complimentary breakfast voucher. We sent back our meal that was cold, eggs were horrible,hard bread ,no butter , hash browns were cold and soggy. No ketchup...They sent out another meal replacement and that was just as bad so we left. Complained to the staff at the penguin hotel front desk and was given a voucher for the president hotel. Service there was super and breakfast was great

Overall a good hotel.

Overall a nice hotel in a really good location but the rooms are small they are conditioner was noisy and don't maintain a steady temperature. You're paying 100% for the location and not for the hotel itself.

It was fantastic! The hotel and the staff were wonderful! I selected this hotel based on good reviews and I confirm it is really an excellent hotel. Very clean, hard to hear other rooms, delicious breakfast at its sister property and the pool with warm water, staff very attentive and helpful. Specially the lady at front desk (Lourdes) who helped me on my requests always with her beautiful smile. And, the technician (Leo) who helped me for my room windows to avoid noise (I’m so sensitive to noise). My room was ocean view as requested and I stayed 1 week enjoying my 1st trip to Miami. I will recommend this hotel to my friends and I will be back. Thanks ;)

The Penguin provided a wonderful environment for our visit. Staff was helpful, location is ideal, and a good price for the area. We loved the restaurant and pool access. The room was very small for 3 people, but the beds were comfortable. The AC was a bit loud. Other than that it was a perfect place!

The location was great. We didn't rent a car, so it was very important to be close to the beach and restaurants. We were with kids and they loved the location as well. Right across the street there is a large grass area so we could seat in the restaurant outside and watch our kids play ball. The rooms were a little tight for a family of 4 but we only stayed 2 nights and we spent our time outside. We went to the pool once which is on a roof of another hotel. It was a short walk and it was clean. The staff was very nice and greeted us with extra bottles of water which was great after a long flight. We also received voucher for a welcome drink in a restaurant next door. The Uber ride from the Miami airport was about 30 minutes.

SBWFF Get Away Weekend

A nice hotel for a weekend getaway. The room was comfortable. Walking distance from Lincoln Road and hop skip and jump to the beach. Also, to the SBWFF. My only complaint was the food voucher for next door. The breakfast was cold and not appetizing
